Incredible feats of endurance by the contestants, 10 stars for that. But the editing is one of the worst and most biased I've seen in the already pathetic genre of reality TV. They focused on about 10 teams out of 66 for most of the race, who had some back story they could endlessly bring up for emotional effect. They never even showed some of the top teams or their finish at the crossing line. Extremely disappointing editing, not worthy of this great race and it's contestants.
It is still one of the best competitions but they focused a lot on few teams and put aside the sporting event. They never showed general leaderboards nor did they show 50% of the top 10 teams. I could never know in which position the Colombian team arrived because they never showed them even in a single shot
All I needed to see was the name Mark Burnett for my interest to be piqued. The legendary producer behind Survivor, Amazing Race and other shows has created another hit series!
The show is not necessarily about the race. The show may seem like it is about the rugged terrain, harsh landscape or unbearable climate, but it is an emotional story at heart. There are teams racing for the LGBTQIA+ community, people afflicted with Alzheimers and disabilities to prove that anyone can do this. I myself was inspired to see these emotional stories.
I love Bear Grylls as well. I have long thought he has an iconic voice and he provides an energy, a zest that adds to the exciting feel of the show. Grylls interacts with the contestants and motivates them to keep pushing, to dare to dream.
He talks to all of these different countries from all over the world. I felt as if I was watching the Olympics, seeing the variety of diversity onscreen. I was amazed by the camaraderie and friendships that began as well. The show is heartwarming as it focuses on relationships, which is more heartfelt during this time of social isolation.
I definitely suggest the show. The series is able to capture human grit and what it takes to survive. I do not want to test myself in that way, but I respect everyone that did so. Watch the show and experience Eco-Challenge Fiji!!!

Hey guys, just as a heads up the first episode is very American-centric with the stories being told. However, toward the middle chunk of episodes we do hear from other teams a lot more. Spain. Estonia, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and even Guatamala are given time on-screen and the perspective is a lot better balanced.
Early on though there's definitely a big American slant but seriously, stick it out, it's worth it!

While it's a bit of overload on the inspirational stories, in the end it's worth the watch just to see who makes it and who doesn't. I have to say I was more surprised by the teams that DID finish as compared to those who failed.
