Isaiah Doucet in Drag Heals (2018)
Premiering Friday, April 19th on OUTtv and the OUTtv channel on Amazon and Apple TV.

Drag Heals is a hybrid stage workshop and documentary TV series that follows six drag artists over a month of workshops to build their own show. In each workshop, a guest coach joins stage director Tracey Erin Smith in exploring soul-deep story sharing techniques as well as the unique talents and skills required from a drag performer.

Over the course of the intensive workshops and story crafting, the participants dive deep into their personal lives to unearth lessons learned and bring them back to the audience as a gift. They are both the pirate and the pirated, the island and treasure. The resulting stories are emotional and cathartic, both for the drag artists and the audience who share in the experience.

Director: Charlie David

Director of Photography: Nickolaos Stagias

    Fantastic Third Season

I'm a huge Charlie David fan - I find his body of work within the television and movie sphere captivating. I'm also a huge fan of Drag Heals, a show he directs and produces. I watched the first two seasons avidly and was thrilled beyond belief when I got to see the third season. OMG, such a great cast and so many amazing and compelling story. If you followed previous seasons, you're going to want to check this one out. If you're new to the series, this is a good place to jump in. I enjoyed the process of watching this disparate group of performers come together to put on a spectacular show. So well done. Hope there's more to come...

    The human connections

My first time watching Drag Heals and I knew within the first few minutes I would like this show. The positivity and healing atmosphere was very refreshing. This allowed me to quickly and easily immerse myself into the stories and experiences that shaped each person. Experiences become stories, and those stories make up the individual. It's here that I find those human connections through understanding, familiarity, & compassion.

Even though I watched from the comfort of my home I still received something from the entire process. The counsel and encouragement given resonated with me in validating and explaining some things that I have or am currently experiencing. It was oddly cathartic and I can appreciate that.

    10/10 I world definitely recommend.

    Emotional journey through healing

This show is very profound. We are truly taken on a journey, one I appreciate as the gift it is. These individuals are vulnerable and honest and teach each other and the viewers much along the way. Tracey should be proud of the project she's created. Charlie David directs the episodes beautifully. This is a show I hope many see as many people would benefit from the experience chronicled throughout the season. I loved the interactions and friendships formed and the personal journeys through self-discovery and healing. There are solid and engaging personalities that each impact you as the viewer in various but no less impactful ways. I would recommend it.

    Wonderful show

I love the sense of queer community that this show embraces. The cast really comes together from a variety of backgrounds to form a supportive community for each other and it's wonderful to see the vulnerability they each bring to their performances.

Tracey's workshops truly live up to the title, where the cast is able to open up about deeply personal parts of themselves and dig deep to bring the audience the gift of their performance.

Wonderful show, and this season continues to bring more interesting and inspiring stories to the stage. Makes me want to go back and watch the previous seasons again.

Amazing! So Much Fun to Watch!

Drag Heals is such a pleasure to watch!

Charlie David does a great job directing, and I enjoyed how interviews of the six participants are interspersed with scenes of them interacting with each other. The creator, Tracey Erin Smith is so creative and supportive. Smith is totally enouraging.

There's a marvelous range of characters in Season 3. I got very emotional, and several of the participants brought tears to my eyes. What a courageous group! They shared their stories so openly, it was inspiring.

I love seeing how the cast bonded as the season progressed. They really became a community, supporting each other. There's so much joy in the scenes of them dancing together, it was really fun to watch.

I hope the other two seasons are available to rent or buy.

A copy of Drag Heals, season 3 was provided for the purpose of my honest review, all opinions are my own.
