The Life and Crimes of William Palmer

1 review
8/10

Don't drink the port!

W.M.Palmer Surgeon, and expert poisoner.

If you're a fan of the Granada TV serials from The 1990's such as Sherlock Holmes and In suspicious circumstances, you are certain to love this two part series. Wonderful production values, great acting, lovely costumes, and they definitely managed to capture the vibe of the time. Lots of scandal.

I wasn't aware of the story of Palmer until seeing this, what a monster, how on Earth did he manage to get away with so many crimes before any suspicion was placed at his door? Unforgivable what he did to friends, acquaintances, and even his own family. A true monster.

Keith Allen, I'm currently watching him in The Pembrokeshire Murders, and decided to hunt for some of his work, this popped up, and I'm glad it did, what a wonderful watch.

Mary Thornton was The Father Jack Hackett of her time, laying in bed shouting 'gin!' Linda Bassett was great, I also loved Judy Cornwell as Mrs Palmer.

It's a lovely production, telling a bleak story. 8/10.
