An Excellent Satire of Female Relationships and the Social Media Era

This episode of Into the Dark does a great job of creating a tense atmosphere without being too heavy handed. The acting was hyper realistic in the sense that we all know a girl or two that perfectly fits the mold of any of the lead characters.

The scariest part ends up being that even though the plot is a bit exaggerated, it's entirely plausible that it could actually play out in real life. Definitely worth the watch!

surprised this is blumhouse but not in a good way

This movie is different than most blumhouse's movies, and honestly that's what gives it its own charm. It feels like a couple of girl pals wanted to make their own little quirky horror movie. Sure it may feel cheap at times but i also feel as that also gives it its charm. The acting is good at best. What kinda annoyed me is that both danielle and alexis look similar and i kept getting them mixed up but maybe i'm just dumb.

The party in this movie sucks, but the movie itself was a good start to the new year.

A group of old friends gather for a girl's night on New Years Eve. But as they begin to rehash old memories, many of the gripes they've been harboring manifest in murderous ways.

New Year, New You is a strong social commentary on social media and a relatable story about relationships. One of the overall strong points New Year, New You has, aside from its cultural relevance, is the way the violence and terror organically progresses. The pacing is natural and effortless as the girls slowly turn on one another, memories manifest, and hidden resentment reflects off each of their shallow surfaces. When the goading manipulation and passive aggressive bite of transgressions new and old finally mount with each tick towards midnight, New Year, New You rears its horror and spirals into a tense, bloody showdown.

I found New Year, New You to be quite interesting, and all four of the actresses turn in great performances. There were times when I started to wonder how this scenario could sustain the 84 minute running time, but Takal and Gaines pulled it off well, and the actresses made sure that I was always invested in seeing what was going to happen next.

The only thing scary is how slow it is

I had never seen Suki Waterhouse in anything until this. ... and this was not a very good introduction to her. She's pretty wooden and maddening to watch.

Of course, she wasn't helped by the molasses-slow pacing of the script. Kirby Howell-Baptiste was her usual luminescent self, however. Unfortunately, she's not enough of a reason to sit through this mess.

    Terrifying

I have to be honest, this scared me more than most horror does. Nothing is scarier than living in an age of culty social media loving millennial psychos. I found it incredibly believable and eerily realistic.
