Kudos to director and team for making this film, every actor's performance were so real and raw.
First hats off to the director and thank you for making this movie. Its a honest and raw display of unique and rare cultural aspects practiced in a remote village. The characters are well established and I amazed and appreciate the way the director did not compromise in any way and showed exactly the way he want the story to be told. The artists selection is top notch and extracted amazing performance from every artists. The camera and music work is excellent and used it in a right mix. My only little struggle is the core concept of the story is about the respect the dead body makeup man getting in the village setup that I'm not aware of even though I'm from the same state. But I understand our culture is so different from every 100 miles.. but I applaud the trust the director had in his story and screenplay.
I'm not a tamil but always fond of such good movies which centers around we/comman people.
Saw the poster,I went with that hunch and its was right it's movie which represents a mouring community in one of the villages.Great charaters which we always see rural areas
Great cinema and camera experience
An offbeat movie that centers around conflicts, misunderstanding and finally reconciliation between a grandmother and a granddaughter. Set in a village where many are gainfully employed in the funeral industry, Krishnaveni is known as Oppari Kizhavi (funeral singer). Ailing and yet defiant Krishnaveni makes one last attempt to reach out to her estranged granddaughter Meera (Kuppamma). The dynamics of their relationship and their fiery fights adds pace to the story and makes it engaging.
Naturally shot in the rustic environ, the film is stark, raw and beautiful. Kudos to the director for giving us an engaging story with such simplicity.
