You like animes with tons of fighting scenes, a few silly dialogues and well animated violent content? Lean back and enjoy, you don't regret even one second. Can't wait to watch 3rd season.
I recommend as its easy to follow with imoressive fights and different styles
It is very much like Baki, if you've seen it, but better. Like Baki, Kengan Ashura is a story of martial arts told through contests between varying styles and ideologies. The fights are well-animated and the choreography is enthralling. It's bloody, violent, and visceral.
Unlike Baki, however, Kengan Ashura is slightly more grounded when it comes to anatomy and human limits, yet it still manages to capture the same intensity in every fight. The struggles, emotions, and pain in the fighters is more believable as well. Kengan Ashura also has a comparatively-decent subplot.
Overall, I rate the series 9/10. My only criticism is that the 3D animations sometimes look weird and remind me of Berserk 2016.

I recommend it to everyone regardless of whether you like anime or not, kengan ashura a show that leaves you speechless at how good it can be, the series excels in its mystery, backstory, incredible cast and very good writing. From someone who completely abandoned anime because I often consider them repetitive and extremely poorly written, kengan Ashura is something new, something different in a sense that only the series can give.
Ohma is a very good example of how a main character should be, the character is thrilling and absolutely everything about him makes you want to keep watching, especially his life story which we only start to discover a little of in season 2 .
One last thing I want to say is that, even with his rather large absence in the show sometimes, kengan ashura does not become boring, the secondary characters being very well written.
Totally better than Baki any day.

Fighting anime will evolve with time, as it did before, but this will be remembered as one of the best fighting anime of this era, a true masterpiece. I also watched almost all variations of Baki and really liked it, I would never have thought I would be able to find an anime on par with Baki and maybe even surpassing it (which some may argue). Still both Baki and Kengan Ashura are a true Gem of fighting anime, which is hard to find, especially pure fighting anime without magic spell and chakra. IF YOU LIKE FIGHTING ANIME, OH BOY, YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT, DO GIVE IT A CHANCE, cant wait for the next season.

Short Version:
Despite the animation style giving me "Berserk 2016-17" PTSD flashbacks, it grew on me. It has a relatively simple story line, interesting characters and rather curious setting.
Long Version: What sticks out the most about this is mainly the characters and the setting. There are various groups partaking into the Kengan tournament, with different backgrounds and goals. The chemistry between the characters and some evolving relationships seems promising. The fights do bring a lot of real life techniques into action, but they don't skip on BS power ups either grounding them in a logical basis most of the time. What would really make this even more interesting, is having tense situations arise outside of the tournament as well (at least, more often). The only tiring thing for me was that damn female presenter screaming her lungs out every time a fighter shows up on stage. She speaks way longer than she has to, especially when re-presenting a character that has already fought once.
THE QUESTION: "SHOULD I WATCH KENGAN ASHURA OR BAKI?" Honestly, just do both. Baki seems more light hearted since almost all battles seem to be fought between friends or "co-workers" and there are never high stakes to influence the nature of the fights.

All the naysayers who are saying new characters were introduced in 2nd season, they are dead wrong! Second season was EPIC, even better than season 1. They introduced small bits of the 28 fighters of the tournament through out the show. Atleast Tokita gets to fight, many times...just finished Baki, so underwhelming...boring and ruined by a love angle.
Kengan keeps us on the edge many times.
Fights are well coordinated and explained. Characters apart from main guys like Cosmo, Wongsawat, Jun Sekibayashi, Hajime Hanafusa are done well. Great fights, great arcs and great animation...love the 3D intros of the fighters!

Well, as I said, I will only talk about the anime itself.
Kengan Ashura is an anime done in CGI and as incredible as it seems, as much as I am used to good old 2D (traditional anime design), the CGI of this work seemed to me very fluid.
This anime does not waste time, it is simple and objective in its presentation. It does not roll like most animes and one of the things I liked is that the beating happens all the time without mercy or pity, with a lot of blood and violence. The rating is not +18 xD.
Despite being a story centered and focusing his episodes on pure fighting, Kengan Ashura manages to amuse you with the absurd amount of characters (mostly fighters) and their unique personalities. You can also mix and work humor and drama effectively, being serious only when you really need to be.
It is not a magnificent anime, but it pleases me enough and enough that I continue to follow, entertaining and suffering from the bloody struggles and personal stories of its iconic fighters.
You can watch that at least you will have fun!

Very enjoyable. Good story, fight scenes are good. A good amount of violence, which I wanted. (One scene with the enforcer is pretty harsh!!)
I always enjoy the progress of tournament anime
There's some great arty cutaways with great Manga artwork.
Got a few mandatory manga chicks with ott proportions..so all good!! I reckon you'll like it!

Kengan Ashura adapt from manga in same name and it great. I don't expect for the first time but I admit this is awesome.
Better than any pure fighting anime i 've ever seen, and i watch animation 35 years now. The scenario is unique but nothing special, it's a fighting tournament based anime after all. The fluidity of the movements is extraordinary and the choreography of the fighting scenes just awesome. The only time I feel i 've seen something better in a fighting scene is when i remeber the manga Vagabond written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue. I also like the fact that it's not all about the protagonist so far and its pretty unpredictable, if you can say something like that in a fifty-fifty prediction outcome. Give it a try.
The animation is great, dialogues are great (for an anime of this type). I just wanted the pace to move a bit faster so we get a better understanding of what is going on for those of us who don't read mangas. The fights are a bit formulaic in development but still good. It was a very pleasant distraction but now we're stuck for season 3 whenever it comes out!

I had never watched an anime before in my life but I am glad I watched this. I binged watched seasons 1& 2 and eagerly waiting for the third. First, I thought it will be just your average show with typical fighting matches but didn't realize that i was slowly being hooked into the story line as i was watching each episode and the next thing you know, i finished it over the weekend. If you like simple storylines with cheesy dialogues, this would be totally worth it for you. The best thing I liked about this show was how easily they were explaining different fighting styles and depicting them on-screen without being too obvious about it. Sometimes you can sense if a movie or a tv show is becoming too obvious, that's when you lose interest in that, at least i am that way. I was skeptical at first but when i gave it a try it was worth it. So, go have yourself some kengan fun over the weekend.

In Netflix 'Anime Series Kengan Ashura, the 56-year-old Kazo Yamashita one day is called to his boss and explained to a Gladiator. Now he should defend the company rights of his company in a duel.
"Kengan Ashura" is pure eye candy once you get used to the animation style. The fights look incredibly good and are sometimes really interesting.
Kengan Ashura doesn't try to give the characters a lot of depth, but in most cases only gives a short introduction to the fighters and then comes the carnage.
I really enjoyed the anime and I'm looking forward to a 3rd season coming out, but slowly I lose hope for this happening.
Update: Since I don't think Netflix will continue the story after the 3rd season, I'll just assume this is the end - even though the manga has more material.
I'm happy with the ending anyway and think "Kengan Ashura" is one of the best Netflix animes so far.

This show is similar to Baki, but also very different. Basically a big fighting tournament between Japanese corporations, with each having their own fighter. The story is surprisingly good and the visuals are nice.
At first the 3d animation was a little off putting but I grew to appreciate it because it's really well done. Give it a chance and you'll be in for a treat.

If your'e into martial arts films and tv shows such as "Into the Badlands" & "Wu Assassins" then you'll love this. Most of the episodes have cool action scenes & that's the biggest strength of this anime series. It can be funny at times, & have some good drama but it's more towards the fighting that you the audience member should focus on.

Most of the poor reviews seem to come from people who haven't actually watched it all. It's like they saw the first couple of episodes and decided the whole show was bad. Please sit down and watch the entire thing before you put up a review because you're not truly being fair if you haven't seen everything. The show gets really good once the Annihilation Tournament starts! Some seriously amazing fights. I initially found the 3d animation a bit strange, but I then came to adore it. Please give it a fair chance. Meanwhile, I'll be impatiently waiting for season 3.
The animation, the style, the fights, it's just awesome all of this things come together to make one of the best 3d anime adaptations ever made
The end its one of the best I've ever seen in this kind of animes, the concept and the story actually makes sense, not like baki and other fight/martial arts anime.
The series evolves on our main character who is a classic undisputed type. But the realism of the fights and the pace of the story is what makes this perfect. There is a little exaggeration to the part where it just feels fun. The pace is fast and always gets you hooked in the story. Nearly all parts of the fights are taken from a martial art with perfect execution, and when you take the realistic brutal 3D animation into concern It's just one of a kind. It might feel cheesy at times and the patterns of the fights are sometimes predictable, but this does not take any of the excitement whatsoever. The series does not take itself serious all the time and can even add supernatural human features which makes you laugh at times. Highly recommended for anyone who likes martial arts and a fan of along with great 18+ anime.

Way back in the 1960s, this venerable old reviewer found a book in a used book store (yes, such a thing existed) which documented a journey in the early 20th cenutry by a writer determined to track down the martial arts "legends" in all the corners of the world. What he found, hidden away in remote areas, were individuals who actually had abilities like the ones in this series. So, while the writing team behind BAKI just gave up and created the bizarre character of PICKLE just to hold their audience, this writing team went all in, and actually tried to show what the martial arts might lead to. They did not get the credit they deserve, although they were on the right track. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer." Please check out my list "167+ Nearly-Perfect Movies (with the occasional Anime or TV miniseries) you can/should see again and again (1932 to the present))
