This episode was a very mixed bag. The analyses are pretty good. The fight looks excellent with super colourful hand-drawn animation. The action is also pretty fast paced. However, this fight has some pretty big problems. The main one being the characterization. Mario acts like a douchebag the whole time, and the scene with the cat Mario's beating up Sonic is super unfitting for this episode's upbeat tone, and it's just not fun to watch. They also use less power-ups then the season 1 episode somehow. The season 1 episode as a whole is genuinely the more enjoyable episode between the two. This episode has enough I like that I don't think it's bad (Unlike a certain other rematch) but i still do not particularly like it
