I realize a lot of viewers probably also read Jeffrey Deaver's bestselling books so they will have preconceived notions before watching this. It's not PERFECT but it's good. The cast is terrific but I think it's a bit too ambitious in the pilot episode and it was a bit overwhelming. But episode two is better and more evenly paced. Let's try to judge it based on the SHOW not the books However. I think it has definite potential if it continues getting better. It's interesting.

Let's give this series a few more episodes to gain some of that valuable (writing) experience before assessing whether this new crime/mystery series is worthy of support from a mandatory sized audience to extend the series into a second season.
I liked the lead actors/actresses and how each person(s) old baggage is introduced to the audience in this pilot episode. It is a lot of information to pack into a 45 minute TV episode. Let's not try and compare the two (2) hour major motion picture of 1999 The Bone Collector, starring Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Queen Latifah with this new TV crime series.
I give credit to Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector for bringing to the small screen a new crime/mystery series with some depth of character and story line. Actor Brían F. O'Byrne who plays the serial killer that Lincoln Rhyme (Russell Hornsby ) is chasing are both perfectly cast as the illusive bone collector and as the confined to a bed serial killer investigator.
I am optimistic that the future story lines of Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector will be a cut above the other standard crime TV series that should have been taken off the air some several seasons ago. (You know which crime series I am referring to).
An excellent start to the year 2020

I am only one episode into the show and am already hooked. It has a very promising start, I can only hope the rest of the episodes are like this. Very well done show.

Sadly, we/viewers have to always compare shows with big screen movies and/or books there based off of. This show should be given a pass as it's not like the movie nor the books just very loosely based of it which is refreshing if the viewer just watches/reviews based on what is being shown.
With that said, I enjoyed the Pilot and think the show has much promise. I like the interaction between all the characters and the suspense of the villains. The Pilot jumped right into the heart of the show and gave just enough history to make us follow why the characters are where they are which reminded me greatly of the Persons Of Interest directing style.
Hope this show is given a chance to grow and develop a following.

Not sure why they're so many that don't like this show. If you compare it to the movie you're not giving it a fare chance.

This show with Russell Hornsby definitely deserves a second chance given that (1) it's based on a hit movie, and (2) it had a seriously awesome cast. Its problem was the lack of interesting writing regarding the topic matter of an intriguing detective whose hook should have been used to pair him with not only one key killer but a group of baddies lead by an arch enemy worthy of him. This, the world of Lincoln Rhyme could have been fleshed out uncovering each chapter of his challenge in relation to a criminal v. Cop dynamic. Also, how do you improve on Denzel and Angelina?? It would have to involve stories ripped from the headlines with key twists that would lead to complicated but sensible character growth....in other words you would need talented writers and smart producers! SMART is the key word here! Good Luck 🤞

{Initial Impression} This has all the makings of a great Crime Mystery with the twist that we know who the villain is. It is all a cat and mouse game from here on out. Great casting. Interesting characters. A little grisly for those unaccustomed to Crime Thrillers. I'm looking forward to how these damaged crime fighters track down their criminal. Based on this first episode, I give this series an 8 (great) out of 10. {Crime Drama}

My only complaint is about Ramses Jimenez. Can barely understand a word he mumbles. Really bad delivery. All in all though, I like it and hope it gets a second season.
At first I could take it or leave it, but what hooked me was the actor who plays the bone collector. He's quite good at it. Then the show REALLY picks up in the last 4 episodes or so. By then, you do get to know and care about the characters. Please hang in there. It definitely does get good!
I wanted to watch because it's Hank from Grimm I will be honest. I didn't have high hopes just saw it was going to be on and decided to give it a shot. I am not one for NBC tv but this could be very promising. I'll keep watching because I think the plot is going to thicken and the plot twist towards the end of the first episode has me curious. Good start, looking forward to more.
I am very big fan of this fictional hero, Lincoln Rhyme, created by Jeffrey Deaver and made memorable by Denzl Wahington in the movie, The Bone Collector, ably assisted by Angelina Jolie.
Now, after (more than) 20 years, it is getting serialized on the TV, with Russell Hornsby as Lincoln Rhyme. Weall know, he is not Denzel Washinton. But, I appreciate the actor's (Russell Hornsby) sincere efforts in portraying th character. Nice work by the team. Good job done. I have watched till the 5th episode. Waiting to watch the remainder episodes.

It's actually a really interesting show. The acting is good. The show is for the most part intense and keeps you watching. People are rating this lower than they should. Because people love to hate things for some reason. If they would go into movies and tv shows with a open mind, they would enjoy entertainment a lot more.

I have no idea what everyone else's problem is with this. I have read the book and have seen the movie. I actually like this show better than the movie.

If the work of an actor touches us for better or for worse, that is the purpose, to create a character with whom we identify. But we do not necessarily have to like it. The fast-paced convoluted flow of information made it unwatchable on live tv. Although, is perfect for streaming, where you can go back and have all the pieces of the puzzle, ending up with an excellent show. Even I get to like the fast pacing ones I have all the dialogue figured out. Otherwise, you will get to the end without knowing exactly what happens. The ability to do the unbelievable must be directly proportional to the ability to minimize the unwatchable.

Lincoln, blond and lean, Amelia, redheaded kickass lady, Tom?!?! One of the most interesting characters in the book...the narrative is just off. One of the best book series i have ever red, maybe i was expecting a lot and being biased, but man.. they didn't even try to represent what the readers know so well. So it has simply turned into a just another cop show. There are moments that are not logical - Amelia hoping to stop a train and closes her eyes, not knowing if it will? No. Amelia is razor sharp, smart and resourceful.
Don't get me wrong, i love me an interesting crime series jus as much as the next person. This is not awful, but is also a far cry from the class and quality of what Deaver has created.

One of the best shows to come along in quite a while. Acting is great. Despite the negativity around it I sure hope it gets a renewal.

The show has definitely improved as each episode has aired. Most commenters don't realize that the show is only 'based on' books, and nothing in movie was included (which I'm glad of - hated the movie). The writers did over-explain in the beginning, but have chilled a bit. Plus they have to work within the bounds of only having 43 minutes to present the case, do the investigation, then solve it; add in interpersonal relationships with team, and the 'main' storyline of finding the Bone Collector; which makes 'realistic' time lines rather difficult. But somehow they have managed to create intriguing stories that are riveting and suspenseful.
I find the rewriting of the main characters interesting and adds new dimensions to them. At first they were a bit 2 dimensional and stilted, but each episode the actors clearly are becoming more comfortable with the characters they play, and come across more naturally.
Every new series has to go through these growing pains, and get through basic set-up material. I'm glad I ignored the low ratings and watched this series. Hope it gets another season!!!
