Starting Up Love

It is hard to really appreciate things like cinematography, directing, sound and lighting, until you've seen it done wrong. The quality of this movie's, finished product, will give you that opportunity.

Fortunately, it stars Anna Hutchison, her performance, and an interesting story, is good enough to keep you watching until the end. This movie is a good one to watch, if for no other reason, to give you an appreciation for when the overall production of a movie is done right.

Good movie for the season, without a Christmas theme. Typical story for this sort of movie. Acting is adequate, without any standouts and the movie moves along at a good pace. Nice, overall, feel good movie for the genre.

First i m going to say that i really liked this movie! Both Hutchison and Myers had chemistry slowly developed (realistic), their acting was very good and without exaggerations! But.... i would like more "love scenes" between Liam and Jilian for example a kiss or two before the end of the movie (after the dinner 44' or after the fishing as he brings her home 58'). Also.... the kiss in the end (bearly touching lips) was "frising cold". If you want the love story to capture the audience, the kiss should be more powerfull and realistic! The storyline, the dialogues, the scenery, fotography and music of this movie were great! It's a movie worth seeing!

A high powered venture capitalist up for partner in her firm inherits a "cabin" in the wilderness with a handsome caretaker and handyman. She wants to sell it, he wants to keep it in the family as a B & B. Yeah, I know , it sounds like tens of other TV romance plots. But this one actually turned out to be half-way decent thanks to the good acting of Anna Hutchison as Jillian and her reluctant rapport with her co-owner and sometime nemesis. Mysterious Uncle Warthog? Walrus? Wallbanger? And Charlene Tilton as Aunt Marge (who amusingly turns out to have more on the ball than meets the eye) add some interest.

There are some cute situations in the script, which hangs on our heroine deciding to create a start up out of her inheritance to prove to the partners that she is worthy of promotion. As a sidelight, if I had been as successful and qualified to be partner as she was, I would have been out the door to the competition in a second instead of hanging around trying to prove myself to those pompous ingrates. Anyway this keeps her in the wilderness long enough for more conflict, drama, and romance to ensue.

In addition to Hutchison the other highlight in this otherwise fairly stick-to-the-playbook movie, is the performance of Erica Hernandez as Samantha, Jillian's administrative assistant. I was blown away at how she took a nothing-burger part and made it one of the highlights of the show. What an illustration of how good acting can turn a small insignificant part into a keynote.

I almost gave up on this movie as the lead characters aren't very nice at the start however it becomes more uplifting later. I probably will watch it again, but it's not as good as the similar movie Winter in Vail.
