For some reason, this film did not get the recognition it deserved. Shifting from tense to harrowing, the film is not dull for a second. There are no long expository scenes; just one tense or harrowing scene after another.
Kurt Russell makes one of his best films in this one, and the stunts he did highlight his former occupation.
The supporting cast, but particularly the kidnappers, are very good. I haven't seen such a cold-blooded bunch since my second mother-law and my last wife.
The film will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

This film is entertaining, but has nowhere near the intensity of Westworld, it's predecessor. The acting is subpar, with the exception of Yul Brenner.
Continuity is a major problem in the film, as some suspenseful moments are lost due to poor editing. The script, while very intelligent I some places, falls short of logic in others. An example is when a robot knows what you are thinking. If they knew what you are seeing and thinking, how would you be able to hide from them?
One must give the film credit, however, for its attempt at developing concepts for AI, despite some of those concepts being incorrect. Elements of the film reminded me of Seconds with Rock Hudson. Watchable, but not much more than that.

Two Heavyweights, Al Pacino and Gene Hackman, try to save a weak script, and are somewhat successful. The film is a bit dated, and difficult for 21st century people to understand very well. It was a different time then, when there were no cell phones, computers, AI, Google, Youtube, Facebook, or other social networks.
In this time period, people met with people face to face; there was no search engine to get answers for your problems. You had to solve them for yourself. Tech was a great advance, but this period of pure human contact was not too bad either. Unfortunately, the script for the film is weak, but Hackman and Pacino carry it off to a degree. Worth viewing.
