A chaotic, hyperactive blur that tries too hard to shock. Harrelson and Lewis are wild, sure, but the film ends up feeling more noisy than clever. By the end, it's less 'satire' and more 'headache with a soundtrack.' Great cast and great performances, but the storytelling feels weird. It has that Tarantino-style vibe in the writing, but Oliver Stone seems to miss the mark.
Two friends trying to figure out life over too many glasses of wine - awkward, funny, a little sad, and very real. Giamatti and Church make their stupid, honest mistakes feel true to who they are: where one's driven by sexuality and the other's driven by emotions. The moments stay warm, and the whole film goes down smooth, like a good pour on a rough day.
A bunch of flawed people try their best in a world that keeps pulling them back into trouble. Ben Affleck brings heart to a life full of bad choices, the friendships feel real, and the chaos hits hard. A gritty heist story, but also a bunch of humans trying to outrun who they used to be. Great cast and good performances.
