Born in 1952 and raised in West-Berlin since, I became an early movie fan attending Sunday afternoon shows watching Fuzzy St. John. I made my first contact with American culture as a child, because a grandpa of mine worked for the U.S. forces. He brought home army supplies and sports gear. As a teenager I started working at local movie theaters for free tickets, to see sword and sandal films which were replayed with friends after the show. In my late teens and early twenties I turned to more sophisticated films mostly US productions by Howard Hawks, John Ford, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and Don Siegel. Next step to more variety were french movies by Godard, Truffaut and Malle. In my twenties I worked for two Berlin movie theaters: Kant Kino and Clou. The owner Reinhard 'Conny' Konzack was always looking for underrated films to promote them. We started researching and found films by Ken Russel and Milos Forman. Conny also took part in promoting German productions by younger directors. Wim Wenders, Reinhard Hauff, Volker Schlöndorf and Rainer Werner Fassbinder are well known names from that period. I left Berlin In my thirties, to become an IT consultant and to live in a small town near Frankfurt(Main). Movies were less important. Nowadays as a senior visits to the Silver Screen are rare. When asked for my favorite directors of today, I would name Ridley Scott and Quentin Tarantino.

  • Save your time

Sorry, but watching this, is just wasted time. Big holes in the plot and sometimes absolute inexplicable shots. Won't waste my time with more explanations.

  • Better after fourth episode

Being a fan of the books by Donna Leon, I was hoping for an adaption. When it finally happened, I was disappointed of the first results. After Uwe Kockisch took over the role of comissario Brunetti with the 5th episode, the series took off for me.
