The fifth in the movie series. A step up from In the Line of Duty IV. This entry is even more like a martial arts film with a few guns & swords thrown in. So the fight scenes are from very good to excellent. The story is weak but passable. A few surprises but some of the plot & characters don't make a lot of sense. One 15 seconds of a particular scene was atrocious.
Cynthia Khan is back as Madam. I thought her fighting scenes improved from the previous entry. David Wu is the other lead and plays her cousin. He also did very well in the action although not as strong as Cynthia though almost as often. He can be seen in the outstanding movie classic "Robotrix" that was released the year after this one.
They kept everything closer to a PG-13 (Cat IIA) rating. No sex, nudity or even sexual situations. A lot of fights with violence but no real gore.
If you are into seeing the fights & action, you'll love this film. Otherwise you would be disappointed. I thought it was excellent but needed a better script .

First, the story plotline listed is wrong. (They probably didn't actually watch this movie!) It was not the husband that disciplines or teaches her. It is some blackmailers without the husband's knowledge.
Interesting story from Oniroku Dan. The story & script stand on their own. There is of course the prerequisite nudity, softcore sex & bondage scenes. Some but not all are erotic. Nothing too explicit on-screen. I would call them almost artistic at times.
The acting is good to very good. Playing the lead quite well is Miki Takakura, one of Nikkatsu's SM Queens. She later went on to some mainstream films and in her 50's a few adult videos. Kaori Asô is excellent & has a major role. She went in a number Nikkatsu Roman Porno movies
Not a complicated story and some basic elements we have seen before. It is well put together here which makes it entertaining even in the ending. Worth watching.

Before the influx of Batman, the Marvel comic book movie superheroes including his own Spider-Man movies, Sam Raimi created Darkman himself. Amazing what a talented filmmaker can do when they can't rely on other's creativity.
The script has a few small holes but otherwise is solid. This film seems to constantly be moving forward. Rarely slows down. Some good to excellent action sequences throughout. There is a romance side-story but it is used more to develop the Peyton character than anything else.
I originally bought the VHS of this. Have watched it a number of times over the years. Not a heavy story, yet each major character has depth. Liam Neeson is excellent as the lead. Unfortunately he did not return for the two movie sequels.
This is a superhero movie yet Darkman really is not a superhero. Entertaining film.
