The first two seasons of this show are alright compared to it's peers in the genre. . . Not quite as good but it still holds it's own but the quality sharply nose dives with the exit of one of the main writers at the end of Season 2. You are better digging around online and finding the quick finale episode script he did and ending it there once you wrap 2 because they proceed to disrespect all the characters they have developed up until then. Seriously it's like the writers and showrunners forget the traits they have build up until then along with any character development or arcs anyone was experiencing. Sad waste of solid sci-fi potential.
I really cannot see what is meant to be so special about this film. I went in with high expectations after seeing the praise my whole life, and generally I like films up this alley. . . So I was very surprised at how boring and disheveled the film felt. It feels like a poor man's Silence Of The Lambs except the characters don't feel as memorable and developed and the setup and pay off far more contrived and less satisfying. Gwyneth Paltrow's character is briefly flashed on screen for a few times solely to try and add some gravity to the ending but is never given any real room to get too attached to when that at the least could have substantiated the ending. Not horrible just way over hyped to me.
Listen I get that it is supposed to be shlocky fun but ugh it really never lets up reminding you of the "so bad it's good!," angle. It sort of felt like a movie made to test the limits of what masochist fans of purposefully obtuse alternative comedy would be willing to accept. Like if Tim and Eric wrote and directed Chucky. Frankie Freako is just as annoying or awesome as you would imagine that would be depending on your taste. Fans of pure brainrot schlock humor might get a kick out of "shabadoo," spamming but if you still have a pulse you might want to avoid seeing this thing as it will undoubtedly provide you with a long and uncomfortably painful watch experience. If it was a short or part of anthology I probably could have got behind it more but whew it makes for a hard feature length watch imo.
