Not sure when this was filmed. Everything is giving me an early 1990s vibe but it seems it was published in 2010. Regardless its a chance to get a honest look at 8 middle aged British blokes dealing with life. Maybe not the most thrilling prospect, but if you are in the age group I guess it shows you a bit of how others are coping with issues that you might encounter when you reach this stage in life.
They all seem to be broken in some respect but manage to forge on regardless. None of them are terribly successful but are likeable even though most carry the aura of douchery.
Its an honest look at how each deal with their circumstances and even though all of them are white British males in their middle age they represent a host of issues we might encounter by that age.
Its surprising to me this was made by a woman. If you are not in the fairly narrow target group I have no idea why you would find this interesting. Maybe this was made as an anniversary gift for her husband.
All and all, its an okay watch if you are a white middle aged male, that wants to know how others have dealt with a mid life crisis. If not, you can steer clear of this.

Really cool, well acted and intelligent scifi indie movie with a lot of heart. To me it's a solid 8. A nice wrapped up story where you really feel the personality and relationships of the few members of the story.
It makes sense, people feel real and the story is interesting. This is not a blockbuster, just something you can enjoy if you are into sci-fi and mind benders.
Kudos to all involved.
I truly think that the reason this is sitting at 6 out of 10 and not 8, is because of the dog thing.
So many people freaked out about that. But he is sad and he is out of time. So to me it makes sense.

This is a solid 9 on all parameters. Everything from casting, story, scenes and direction. It's all top of the line.
I really enjoyed this. The story unfolds in a great arch and the minor pacing issues at the end is made up by a great finale.
Everyone is really well cast and does a great job in their roles. I am not a great fan of Michelle Yeoh and find her a tad overused. But kudos to her for carrying this series well, as one of the main protagonist. The rest of the cast seems born to play their roles frankly.
Loving the John Cho non cameo!
The action is believable, well choreographed and shot, and used in measured doses.
It would have been good with a second season, but honestly there is no where to go but down from here. And since everything is more or less neatly tied up at the end of season one. There is nothing else to do than say great work everyone!
