  • So I finally saw it....BLAH!

I finally saw this movie on TCM the other day.

Sigh...what a waste of talent and time!

Horrible casting...Wood was far too old for the role (she was 27 playing a 15 year old) and Ruth Gordon should have played the grandmother not the mother (she was 69).

And please...what was with that hair cut of Natalie Woods? No one in 1930s Hollywood wore their hair like that!

I was a tomboy in the 70s and I never dressed or acted like her.

The film might have worked had it been done 10 years earlier when the musical was still big in Hollywood and with an actual musical talent as the lead who was much younger. Wood's singing, and even the dubbed singer was, was not impressive at all.

Also, it made no sense that Daisy, obsessed with stardom and selling autographs, wouldn't be somewhat influenced by the actresses of the time.

Nothing about this film was from 1930s period. It all reeked of the 1960s from the costumes to the haircuts.

The Swan Studios looked more like a ghost town than the booming movie studio of the 30s. Seriously, who greenlit this project and why all the talent with this stinker?

The only saving grace was a few minutes of eye candy...Robert Redford...but he was just wasted as well.

    Terrible script. Talented actors wasted.

    The Andy Griffith Show

  • Brilliant episode from start to finish!

The Andy Griffith show was always giving great life lessons with both humor and sometimes drama.

This particular episode focused in on the importance of parenting when outside influences come in to disrupt.

One of my favorite lines from Andy, "You can't let a young 'un decide for himself. He'll grab at the first flashy thing with shiny ribbons on it, then when he finds out there's a hook in it, it's too late. The wrong ideas come packaged with so much glitter it's hard to convince him that other things might be better in the long run, and all a parent can do is say, "Wait. Trust me," and try to keep temptation away.

So many parents today are too busy keeping their kids entertained with videos and iphones that they forget the influences that are out there to undo everything they believe to be good and true.

Social media is often a cesspool for the most part and even Disney+ is loaded with nonsense that will twist a youngsters mind like a pretzel.

In today's insane political climate, please be ever cautious...a parents job is the most important job on earth.

  • Same old Schitt

When I look back on great shows like "Fraiser" I am reminded once again the the only thing that lasts is great writing! Fraiser had that in spades from the first episode to the very last...for eleven years!!! And wow...Breaking Bad...another top notch show and should be taught to future writers on how its done...if they still exist. Schitt's Creek is not that. Major hits and misses on so many episodes and it was obvious they were running out of ideas by season 4. Sure there are some laughs but I have seen it before. I only watched it to see O'hara and Levy anyway. I could give tons of examples why this show wasn't the crown jewel so many think it is but there are enough reviews on this thread to cover that. SC doesn't have the legs of great shows of the past and will most likely be forgotten in reruns.
