"How can you connect everything?! It's too surreal!" is exactly the feeling I had when watching this set. It's hands down the best stand up set I've ever seen. Neville Shah said it best when he described Biswa as raw. He drops all filters and just taps into some primal part of you while he talks. Every single line made me laugh but also made me think. Also I've never seen any other comedian, Indian or international, break the fourth wall like Biswa does. Kya mast aadmi hai. Phool on.
In the words of Biswa himself (out of context): "Ye kahan dark hai, ye toh jindagi hai". A jarring, sometimes difficult to watch, but ultimately true-to-life show that deals with multiple threads: the relationship between parents and their children, the flawed education system, the pressure on kids to perform, and so much more. It's sometimes heavy to watch, but is undercut with humour and tender moments in just the right places. The only elements I thought could have been improved were the lighting and, to some extent, the pacing, but I respect these as artistic choices. This show needs to be aired on Indian TV asap!
This is the best stand up set by an Indian comedian I've seen yet. Kanan delivers a tight set with excellent writing, perfect comedic timing, hilarious delivery and some truly unforgettable lines. You can tell he spent a lot of time perfecting the writing of this set, which has one of the most satisfying endings I've ever experienced.
