I love a good disaster movie, science and all things volcanic so maybe I'm a bit bias, so it's good to see a bit of research has gone into the making of this. This is a dramatization of what would happen if the volcano under Yellowstone were to erupt. It makes compelling mix of theoretical fact and drama with some good acting. Making it in two parts allowed a depth of detail you can't get with a movie. I like the semi-documentary feel about it, with real volcano footage mixed in. I own this on DVD and watch now and again. All in all, well worth a watch.
I have seen some rubbish in my time but this is something else. How John Rhys-Davies managed to get talked into this i'll never know. The remaining cast have the acting talent of a 5 year old's nativity play and there was clearly no research or attention to detail in the planning. The scene where a defibrillator is used over someone's clothes and they just get up and walk away was enough for me. My advice? Don't bother.
