If your in the mood for something frothy, let me recommend this flick. Amy Heckerling tells a nice story, with sharp direction, candy colored set design, and some enviable fashions. It is a vampire movie with heart, but has some welcome nods to movies of horror's past. Alica Silverstone, is back! She is as cute and sweet, as ever, and has the air of timelessness, the role needed. Richard Lewis, does an amazing job, his best role in years. I kind of fell in love with his character. In interviews he seems like a scattered mess, but he was perfect in this role of an ACLU lawyer, who was the Silverstone character's love interest, many years ago. Krysten Ritter, just proves she is the girl to watch, I have yet to see her do any wrong. Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey, is her love interest, a Van Helsing. And it makes for fun bit with his fam, headed by the wonderful, Wallace Shawn, wish this guy was in every movie. Great music. The sweet nerd from Revolution, plays a hipster Renfield, and Justin Kirk, plays a Russian vampire, sire (funny stuff). Perfect popcorn flick for girls of all ages.
The first two episodes are mindless and fun, but the show really becomes smart and hits its stride in ep 3, and onward. I must say that the main New Jersey family, and the main Alien fam, are perfectly cast and magnificent in their respective roles. Everyones' chemistry is excellent. The smaller kids, are adorable, and the teens, Amber and Reggie Jackson, are phenomenal, and so much more realistic, than most shows, currently on the air. This simple, goofy fun, takes me back to childhood, and reruns of The Munsters, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. This sitcom, totally references the golden age of wacky TV, and is perfect for ages 8 to 80. Trust me, the commercials do not do this show, justice!
The Two Coreys is great fun and a refreshing new show for summer. As the episodes go on, it get's more humorous. The sweat lodge episode is my favorite so far, and Haim's birthday ep was sweet. As far as nostalgia goes, seeing these two characters again is a blast, and I look forward to it every week. It's cool to see Feldman happily married and responsible. Haim is still adorable and you're constantly rooting for him. Both are perfect and hilarious in all there scenes together. Though the show seems a bit set up, with it's Odd Couple premise, it's heart is in the right place. Like other posters I've read, it's just wonderful to catch these guys in any venue or forum. They still have that Corey chemistry! Hopefully A&E will continue with more than 7 eps.
