  • Good and moody but why so darn crude

This could be a really good movie. In a way it is. It's serious and the filters are grey, the vibe is a Scandinavian whodunnit and the main character is a likeable guy that we like and care about. It's a European murder mystery and we're all in the mood for them sometime, right?

But why oh why does it have to be so darn crude?? Crude murder, crude as hell descriptions of the murderer doing pointlessly crude things, a crude as hell rape, crude as hell gangster, crude violence, crude discussions of violence, and too much crudeness just for the sake of it. But the problem is, apart from the uncomfortable crudeness in itself, is that it doesn't match the rest of the movie's 'mood'. What could be a good Scandinavian-noir (except.. Polish), is instead Scandi-noir but with pointless crudeness. It's too forced. Doesn't feel natural. It makes it viewing uncomfortable. And not in a progressive good way. And, the crudeness is NOT necessary to the movie at all. A bit of it sure, if that's the point. But not this much. It's just weird.

I probably would have given is an 8 otherwise. But frankly it's lucky to get a 6 from me.

  • Good Scandinavian whodunnit

Good show. Mature, adult storytelling without the tacky overemotional scenes. Only six eps long so easily watchable over a weekend.

You will like and befriend the characters. They are sensible adults, with plenty of past trauma in there too. Cinematography and scenery are great too. Nordic noir fans will love it.

I have minimum characters to make up to so let me say: I'm not sure why people say 'I knew who there was from the beginning', because you really don't. Unless they were referring to the plot twist bit in ep 4. But I don't think so, I think they just want to seem like knowitalls. Why would they keep watching if they really did know.

And the acting was great. The lead character was *meant* to be emotionless fgs. I think the people who don't realise this watch too much American trash and think everyone has to be an over-emotive emotional wreck, instead of a normal, intelligent, sensible adult.

That's their loss but don't let it turn *you* off. This is worth a watch for sure. Way better than the Are Murders which was just trashy.

  • Waste of time. Try-hard episode. Pathetic. Ruins the whole show.

I gave the entire show a 9 right before I saw this episode. Now I've reduced it to an 8 and even that is generous. This episode is such a waste of time, money, talent, viewing time, where nothing filmed actually happened. There is no point to it. No point. They want us to think "Hey man, it's so deep, man!, it shows John's confused depressed mindset! This has really affected him! You have to be sooo deep to understand all the artistic merit we're putting into this, man!". Umm. No, it's a pathetic waste of time. Skip all the way to 5 mins to go. I think the last two mins are meant to be real. Boring yawn fest. After 20 mins in I watched it at 1.5 speed so as to not waste an extra 15 mins of my life. And even that was just as painful.
