This could have been better if it had more of a backstory. They spend so much time on her running around they could have used that to let us know who the family really is. Would make us more invested in the characters. The actors did a great job with what they had. Why I gave it the score I did. But finding out the backstory, which wasn't much, in around 5 minutes at the end of the film didn't really make me care one way or another. I know the writers, directors, whoever don't read these reviews but maybe they should. Even ones that are 5 years later. May help with better, (and more audience connection to the characters), scripts. We are telling them what we need for a movie to be interesting and worth our time. Just a thought.
But the music is awful. So much of it is depressing. Had a whole 70's vibe that sucks. I love Luke Kirby. I loved him in Mrs Maisel and one of the reasons I even watched the chow. I love Cheyenne she is a bit of a jerk but still has a kinder side that seems to come out a little now and then. All in all I really do like it. Just the music at the beginning and the end is awful. You wanna hear a great soundtrack to a show? Go watch Peaky Blinders. The music is always amazing in that show. I'm not saying that music would work for this but maybe the guy who does the Peaky music could give you some tips. Because whoever they are they are fantastic.
John Schneider however seemed to be not actually playing a character just his normal everyday douchy self. He thinks he some bigger super star instead of the has been that he really is. And this character seemed to follow that pattern. You could tell it wasn't really him singing. Parker and Hardison were hilarious as the rapper and the Swedish pop star. Eliot was funny too. I had no idea he could sing so well. Not a huge country fan but I like the odd country song now and then. I even went to Spotify and found the doing and added it to my playlist. I might go listen to a few more of his songs.
