Sorry, but this was a mess of a movie.
All the charm, all the fun of the novel are totally compromised.
Don't even talk to me about how they bungled Aech.
I would love to see a streamer buy the rights and develop the book over the course of a season (or two).
Season 1 could end in the IoI prison.

The beauty of "John Wick" was how believable the action was. John Wick is part of a highly stylized, dogmatic crime world. Its rules are old world and fantasy rolled into one.
The reason we accept that world so freely is because the violence is choreographed and filmed in as realistic a manner as possible. Every single fight in the first film of the series is so grounded in reality that it's the number one reason film fans praised it so highly. While the rest of the world was gorging themselves on cgi superheroes and mutants, fans of John Wick were devoted to the gritty realism of the martial arts and armed combat. Everything made sense. There isn't a single fight in the first film that feels impossible or ridiculous.
As the series progressed, we loved the deeper political intrigues of the Continental and High Table and all the fantastic new heroes and villains, even though the story slowly started to become less and less realistic.
This film, for all its trademark style, has completely sacrificed all semblance of that gritty realism from the first film. And it's not just one over-the-top fight either. Every single fight scene (an endless string of them) are completely and utterly UNBELIEVABLE.
The best fight in the film is the Berlin nightclub, however the rest of the fights are ridiculous.
The blind assassin? No.
The Italian staircase? HELL NO.
I was exhausted by its relentlessly boring absurdity.
To be fair though, 2 and 1/2 out of 4 ain't bad.
