What we have here is a real gem. I saw this as a teen and just revisited in 2025. I still can't believe how solid this looks for a film from 2002. The cast, acting, and effects are incredible considering the subject material. Dragons taking over the world with only a a few groups of human survivors? What a concept! I can't think of many movies this ambitious except maybe Jurassic Park!?
The cast is a real treat. Christian, Matthew, and Gerard Butler all hit the mark. Filmed in the mountains of Ireland I can't think of a better place for such a crazy mythical showdown between humans and dragons. Badass from start to finish, check it out!

No this isn't a perfect horror movie, most never are. What it is, is lots of fun leaving you satisfied with how kooky and funny it is. The mystery itself is nice enough to see through and watching it unravel is well worth a ticket. The characters are believable enough and the pacing is just right considering all the moving parts. Overall you get a decent acted suspense filled mess that keeps you wondering guessing. I thoroughly enjoyed this and it was a bigger surprise than I thought. There's plenty of horror cliches but it's still lots of fun solid 8/10.
This might be one of the biggest overrated titles in recent memory. I like to think I'm a decent film buff but this is just baloney. Ryan Gosling and Bryan Cranston pull off a few decent scenes but even they can't save this.
The story is so so with very little keeping my attention throughout. The calm undertones are nice until the first big hit of violence shatters the innocence this movie had going for it.
It's tough, it's brutal, it's a total slog from start to finish. I think from an artistic standpoint this is decent. The shots and camera work are solid I guess and the music is passable. Overall it's not a bad movie I guess, just hugely overrated. Glad I didn't buy the steel-book case because I know I won't be in a hurry to see this again.
