A roughly ordered list of thespians who's work I have found to be highly commendable that I have seen in horror movies or horror themed tv shows. I will try to order it somewhat over time.

My list of great horror movie actors and actresses

Here is a list of movies that best straddles the precarious line between enjoyably entertaining and uncomfortably scary. In order to maintain some variety of entries I have decided to only mention one movie from a series, additional information is appended to each entry in italics if viewed in detailed list mode. No shorts included here which is why House of the Devil isn't in the list.

Ordered based on difference between IMDB rating and my ratings. You might notice a bias in favour of 80's and 90's horrors, I like the older fx from that era of horror a lot more. I admit to rating horror higher just for being horror too as I've notice that horror movies are often rated down a star just for being horror by the general public. List size will likely change over time as well. I also rate horror movies more based on how much I enjoyed them over how much they scared, shocked or surprised me but sometimes you've just got to rate a horror higher because they were willing to go places others wouldn't.

Most of these movies didn't make my top 200 horrors, some did but few. So this is a list of the horrors I really like too but because there are now too many horrors that are just so much better for the pure horror value and production value they bring to the screen this list of movies are the one's I feel are really good and enjoyable too but are either very B (still contain some shock or unease) or just too niche going by many IMDB user ratings.

Usually I rate movies based on how much I enjoyed it (would I rewatch it at all) then second to that how effective it was at being a horror(do you choose not to rewatch it for a good while so as to enjoy it more later).

Warning: Contains big spoilers if you are a horror buff as some movies have these monsters as the big surprise at the end. It will ruin these movies if you have not seen them yet.

Over 300 horror movie monsters & antagonists

These movies are what scared me the most at the time I watched them for the first time. So some of them were very scary because I was quite young but they are still on the list because you can't pretend to get scared when you get older, obviously thus there's not likely to be many new movies on the list.

Not necessarily killer horror movies or most under-rated. These are movies I think horror movies buffs should hunt down just to see at least once in their lives. If you, like me, enjoy movies that take you on unexpected, surreal or dreamy rides through horror then you'll likely find some gold in these select titles.

The list is prioritized from 'least likely to have be seen', 'level of weirdness' then the essential 'horror theme' element. I recommend not reading any of the reviews prior to watching any of these movies as they will almost always contain spoilers which is a killer for many weird movies.
