‘Kasi to Kasi’ EP is a collaborative release between MAD Records and Esa’s Aweh Music, born from a shared vision to bridge generations, genres, and geographies. At its core is legendary South African artist Kamazu, a key figure in the rise of Afro-Synth and early Kwaito during the '90s, sounds that continue to influence today’s dance music landscape.
The title, ‘Kasi to Kasi’, references the taxi routes connecting Soweto’s many locations/zones, symbolising both movement and community. Reflecting this spirit, the EP blends Kamazu’s playful lyricism with production by Caravan (aka Paul Jextra) in Sydney, who draws deeply from the golden era of Kwaito and reimagines it with a contemporary edge.
The tracks were shaped and engineered in Cape Town by Esa Williams, who also led on project direction and art direction. Visual design was handled by Eesaa Adams, with final mastering by Frank at The Carvery Studio in London.
Crafted across three continents and over two years, ‘Kasi to Kasi’ is a vibrant tribute to South Africa’s musical pioneers and a testament to the power of global collaboration
