HOUSTON - Seniors, people with disabilities and caregivers of disabled children in Harris County can apply for a free portable air conditioner unit from the Houston Health Department.
Approximately 200 units are available by calling the Harris County Area Agency on Aging, a division of the department, at 832-393-4301.
Recipients will receive information and assistance with the installation of the units. Only people who have never received an air conditioner unit through the department are eligible to apply.
People 60 and older are considered seniors and eligible to apply.
