every time i look for clothing it gets more depressing. you mean to tell me they don't make booty shorts in my size? at all? even the most basic kind with a common design? really? they don't make this? they don't have this for me? i'm not allowed? really?

image
wolfertinger666

sorry to yap but holy shit this is real:

when you are fat and or pick up weight you really start to remember that the world is NOT made to consider fat people. the most fat friendly clothes are all corporate bland shit you'd throw on to go to the corner store. i realized plus sized people are never really allowed to be involved in having cutesy or alt clothing because companies and the world in general think we don't belong here.

all the cute and fashionable stuff for fat people is mostly made by other fat people because that's how dire it is out there. I didn't want to hijack but it's something I noticed too.

Fuckin yup

Shoutout to @mayakern who makes gorgeous skirts for fat ppl, I have 3 so far

Literally just confirms that last paragraph

aw ty for the tag! the loungewear set we’re about to have preorders for has shorts similar to the one in the photo, tho they’re not a booty short cut so i’m not sure OP would like them, but on the off chance they would i’ll yap a bit as well since they’re definitely unique and fun and they have pockets deep enough to fit a nintendo switch. ☀️

photo of a plus size woman (2/3x) wearing a cropped tee and matching shorts. the shirt has a buttery yellow body with sunny orange sleeves and an orange pocket, out of which a cute little cartoon sun is poking out. the shorts are orange with yellow pipingALT

a little more about me/my business: i am a fat woman who loves cute and comfortable clothing who has been largely unserved by what most brands offer. i strongly believe in ethical labor and manufacturing so we found ourselves a factory that has certifications for their ethical labor practices.

me and my team (aka my wife devin and our COO ash) surveyed our customer base (which is mostly in the XL-3X range but we got data from people sizes XS-6X) to get their real measurements and we combined that with our own know how to create our own unique grading system. when not presented a size chart from a client (aka a clothing brand), most clothing manufacturers have their own default size charts and the plus size measurements on these are woefully inaccurate or nonexistent because what is there is usually just extrapolated from straight sizes. like they didn’t get a single plus size fit model and it shows.

you can read more about that here if you’d like:

reblog store long post things are rough rn as an indie clothing brand so i hope you don’t mind me hopping on this to yap

as a fat person it's SO hard to find a good pair of shorts that fit w/o being cling wrapped to my apron belly bc most brands' plus size sizing data is either out of date or nonexistent.

we used measurements from our customers to create our own unique grading to fit REAL bodies sizes S-6X.

preorders for this super cute and comfy summer loungewear set will be open from march 20th thru april 6th at store.mayakern.com

hello!! im sorry if this is too much trouble, i know hiring models costs money and im not sure if the cost depends on the amount of photos so i understand if it isnt possible right now, and im sorry for the long ask too haha, but:

im a rollator user (four wheeled walker with a seat) and i often sit on the seat to rest when im out and about. i would love one of your midi skirts in the future when i can afford one, but im not sure how the length and how the various patterns would look while sitting down...

about half of my time spent in public (where i would wear a skirt) is spent sitting to rest, so its really important to me to like how i look sitting too!

so that being said, i was wondering if it would be possible for you to have photos available of models (or yourselves!) sitting down, preferably from a front and side view, just on any average chair, while wearing your skirts?

i imagine it would also be helpful for wheelchair users, for anyone who sits a lot at work, and just in general!

again, i dont know if you pay your models per photo, so i totally understand if this isnt an affordable expense right now! and i dont expect you to go back through on every skirt and add new pics, haha. i just thought i would ask, never hurts to wonder :}

(ps i LOVE your work (the way you draw people, especially peoples hair, and your rendering on your illustrations inspires me to work on my own art SO much), and i hope you and your whole team have a lovely day!)

hi, thank you for the kind words! we’ve previously done quite a few sitting photos in our skirts, so i’ll show some of those below for the meantime. a lot of our designs have similar compositions so hopefully this should help you visualize what various designs might look like sitting!

i’ll keep in mind to try to get more sitting photos again in the future, but right now things are super hectic and overwhelming and i may forget, so please don’t hate me too much if that happens. 😅

recently devin and i moved across the country and between that, money being tight, and our social media manager quitting, we’ve been short on both funds and spoons. we’re back to shooting photos of my and us on our phones in our own house and i’m back to working two jobs (doing the art and the social media)

Hi pointedears! I am someone who uses a rollator often (and sometimes a wheelchair) and have many Maya Kern skirts. Here is some pictures I took just now of me wearing the blueprint midi, which is using the current sizing. I'll list details below. (Ignore my side table it needs to be cleaned)

image
image

I wear a 2xl that sits on my waist, so it would be a little higher up than if you had it sitting lower, or depending on your height.

In all of these pictures I am sitting as far back on the rollator to show the 'most' it will look/feel, as sitting a little further forward it will fall lower.

In all times I sit down with one of the skirts, everything is covered well (including the big butt). There was probably about an inch or two of fabric underneath that wasn't on the rollator, so it's covering the seat completely for me.

As with everything, it'll be a little different depending on what your sizing/rollator height/etc is, but hopefully this helps. Please send me an ask if you have any other questions!

oh this is so lovely, thank you for taking these pics!! 🧡🧡🧡

angelicmalware asked:

one of my favorite party tricks to do at work when I wear your skirts is to load up my pockets with a truly ridiculous amount of office supplies, tell one of my coworkers I have a couple thing for them and then begin unloading. A stapler, a computer mouse, a library book, my planner, a hole punch, some pens, a stack of post it's, my phone. The look on their face is always priceless. >:)

omgggg i love that haha!

time for a palate cleanser i think so here’s the dogs with the two loungewear sets we’ve made so far

the summer sunshine set goes on preorder soon but would y’all like to see the cozy matcha set return later this year? or is there a different color palette you’d like to see (in either style)?
