FAQ
Branded games, answered
- Who does Maziminds make games for?
- We work with brands, agencies, and creators who want to turn a marketing goal into something people actually play — from product launches and campaigns to loyalty programs and education. If you have an audience to engage, there's a format that fits.
- What platforms do Maziminds games run on?
- Web, mobile and social. Most of our branded games and advergames are HTML5 and run instantly in any browser — with no app or install — so they work anywhere your campaign already lives. We also build native mobile titles for Android and iOS when a game needs a lasting home on the player's device.
- Does Maziminds build its own games too?
- Yes. Alongside client work we publish our own titles — like True Destination on Google Play — so we sweat retention and polish, then bring what we learn to brand projects.
- How much does a Maziminds game cost?
- Advergames start from $2,500, gamification builds from $3,500, and branded games from $8,000. Where a project lands above that comes down to scope — how deep the gameplay goes, how much custom art your world needs, how many platforms it ships on, and whether it wires into logins, rewards or your CRM. Tell us the goal and we come back with a fixed quote after a short discovery call.
- How long does it take to build a game?
- An advergame typically goes live in 3–5 weeks. Gamification runs 4–8 weeks, varying with how deep the integration goes — a single mechanic like a quiz or a points system is at the fast end, a tiered loyalty programme wired into a CRM at the slow end. A branded game runs roughly 8–14 weeks depending on scope. We lock a realistic timeline at the design stage and keep you in the loop at every step.
- What's the difference between a branded game, an advergame and gamification?
- A branded game is a lasting, custom game built around your brand world for deep, repeat engagement on channels you own. An advergame is short and shareable — built for a single campaign or promo, designed to spread and convert in one session. Gamification adds mechanics like points, streaks, quizzes and rewards to a product you already have, so playing reinforces a real action instead of being a separate destination.
- How do you measure whether a game worked?
- We agree the KPIs up front — plays, dwell time, completion rate, shares and whatever conversion the game is meant to drive — and instrument the build to track them, so marketing can prove the ROI rather than guess at it. What matters most differs by format: an advergame is judged on reach and completion, a branded game on return visits and repeat play.
- What does working with Maziminds look like, and how do we start?
- Send us a short brief — your goal, your audience, and when you need it live — and we come back with scope, a timeline and a fixed quote, usually within a day, weekends included. From there it's four steps: discovery, where we learn your goals, audience and KPIs and map the right mechanic; design, where the concept, art direction and playable loop are signed off before a line of code; build, where we build and QA across web, mobile and social; and launch and measure, where we go live, track plays and conversions, and iterate on the data. One team the whole way — the people who scope your game are the ones who build it.
- How do you keep us updated while the game is being built?
- Closely, and in writing. We map every requirement in detail before we start, break the build into milestones, and deliver a playable demo at each one — so you run the game yourself and tell us what to change while there is still time to change it. Feedback from each milestone goes straight into the next iteration, and our clients consistently single out that communication and attention to detail as the best part of working with us.
- What happens after launch — do you support the game?
- We stay with the game after it goes live. We fix bugs, handle minor content updates like swapping copy, assets or rewards, and keep it running as browsers and devices change. When you want new features or a bigger change later, we scope and build those too.
