The only adversary to this is a British platoon with a Mark V and a HMG ... I'll keep thinking of who/what could be my second allied platoon be made of ... French/Americans ...?
Be welcome! You are watching my personal pixel update platform for my painted metal meneken. Sounds mental as it is. Semi-Strictly 28mm. History 'light'. No magnifiers were used in this process. What I have, what will be painted, what I like, what rules I favour and more. Watch this space and be patient!

5th Showcase: the late WW1 platoons
well I got 2 German platoons, one stormtrooper and one normal with (most of them) iconic gas masks. fitted with some extras as a Mark IV "Beutepanzer" as well as an A7V and some HMG/Mörser and flamethrowers...

Breaking News ... fresh from the printing press...
... even if its from the 3D printing press. Shapeways marvelous WW1 Sopwith Camel and Nieuport 16 synchronised arrived and I could not resist to paint them. In "Guns of August", just the allies, the French and the British have 1 respective air unit. The Germans apart from one "Bloody April" and some weeks around the start of the Verdun offensive, didn‘t have much aerial weight to justify one unit in the game as well ... the air units will appear in 1918 to deliver combat boni...

Continuing against all odds ...
All OK - no distress signal from me - I was quite busy the lately ... also a birthday last week I had to take care of ... so this is just to showcase what I've been up to and what comes next out of the mental metal meneken manufacture ... the 10mm rest of my Franco-Prussian War project AND (almost) the rest of my 6mm WW1 Guns of August project ...
all of it ... not much!! - I need to order navals and 6mm US army!!!
10mm FPW the Voltigeurs of the guard are coming together quite nicely
- in the background just 3!! stripes left
The 6mm complete Serbian army (yes I forgot the Monenegrians ... will come )
The complete Turkish (European) contingent
The Romanian Army
The Italian Army (finished some in the foreground)
The complete Russian army (apart from the already finished artillery and engineers)
In the foreground fort markers and in the back entrenchment markers

Absolutely nothing's new on the western front
Hello! This Tuesday (Thursday polling - club was closed), we decided to go Great with 28mm First World War with a muddle of rules (Chain of command mixed with Through the Mud and the Blood - or simply Muddy CoC). The British, after extensive barrages, got into the first German trench line, A platoon of veterans trying to survive until the rescue would come, played by Peter. While Alisdair played the German platoon who supposed to help a platoon of stormtroopers (played by Bart) to get back what belonged to the kaiser, at least in his point of view.
The tanks were bombed out the barrages otherwise occupied, we just wanted to see what two platoons vs one plus a HMG would do. Aand the stormtroopers had a flamethrower ...
Well turns out it was probably too advanced towards the end of the war, as both players were reluctant to risk an all out attack at the same time and after some honorable advances and fire fights and losses it ended pretty much as a draw.
Still I had fun, but I would like to have seen more slaughter. Next time we will just do 1 or 2 set off points in the trenches and two to advance/fight out ... and we will incorporate some tanks ... without the german rabble seems too frightened to get over the papermachee top ....
Below some pictures from our Kaiserlichen Kriegsbericherstatter sampled photographs, achieved and shot under extreme conditions and danger of life.

The Initial set up
Stormtrooper before the storm
Normal Germans on their way to the slaughter
Massed infantry before the storming attack
The trench packed with Brits
Ready to defend the new captured trench
To kill as many huns as possible
While these huns "approach"
until the end of the foremost post
Meanwhile the stormtroopers
storming in their trenches
and firing with rifles at the enemy
The Brits get hurt but not too much
Crucially not the heavy machine gun
and their supporting mates
they even fire their mad minutes
But the Germans somehow
are stuck in their trenches
The British officer reading the news
while the storm troopers attack via the connection trench
but everybody get shot who sticks out their noses
The British line seems impenetrable
Then in the last hour all advance - Attack!
Even the stormtroopers get near to melee with a British unit
But in the end ... nothings new on the western front.
