Chips & pricing
MegaPotato runs on chips — one-time packs, no subscriptions and no tiers. You buy chips once and spend them per enhance, and the balance stays yours to use whenever. New accounts start with 30 free chips, so you can try it right away.
Each enhance is priced by the size of the result: bigger upscale factors — and, under size-based pricing, larger photos — take more chips. The tool shows the price for your photo and chosen scale before you run it (an estimate marked with a “≈” for formats we can only measure on our side, like HEIC), and a job that fails or is cancelled is never charged.
Every new account starts with 30 free chips. You can also win extra chips in the wait-time mini-game (more on that below), and from time to time we run a referral program — when it’s on, inviting a friend earns bonus chips for both of you.
What it does
PNG, JPG, WEBP and HEIC — up to 6 000px on the longest side and 40MB per file. The enhanced result can be up to 16 400px on its long edge (input size × the upscale factor).
Pick ×2, ×4 or ×8 to enlarge, or Refine to keep the original size and just rebuild detail — same dimensions, sharper result. Larger factors add more pixels and cost a bit more. The result’s long edge can’t exceed 16 400px, so for a large photo the picker greys out any factor that would overshoot — pick a smaller factor (or a smaller image).
If there’s even a hint of a detail, our model can often bring it back. But its goal is to stay true to your original — we restore what was there rather than repaint or invent. If something is truly gone, MegaPotato won’t make it up: fidelity first, always.
Now and then while you wait for a result — more often during busy, peak hours. It plays as a ladder of rounds: round 1 has one potato, round 2 has two, and so on. Catch every potato in a round and each one counts toward your chips (the counter in the corner fills up as you catch); miss one and that round pays nothing. Top out the ladder and it loops back around, a little faster each time. Everything is server-checked and capped, so it stays fair; it’s just something to do while the queue clears — your result lands in your library either way.
Your images & payments
You do — completely. Everything you upload and every result you create stays yours. We don’t claim ownership and we don’t put any license or restriction on your images; we only take the minimal technical permission needed to process them, and that ends when you delete them. See the Terms.
No. We never use your uploads or results to train models, for facial recognition, for ads, or sell them. Images are encrypted in transit and at rest, private by default, and reachable only through your own authenticated account. More in the Privacy Notice.
Uploads, results and thumbnails stay available for about 90 days, then they’re scheduled for deletion — so download anything you want to keep. You can also delete a result yourself at any time. Details in the Privacy Notice.
Chip packs are sold through a third-party Merchant of Record, who handles the charge, tax and your receipt — so the name on your statement is theirs, not “MegaPotato”, and your card details never touch our servers. For a refund, use the link on your receipt; for anything technical, email [email protected] first. If a payment is refunded or charged back, the chips it granted are removed (your balance never goes negative). See the Refund Policy.
