Shopping and Dining
Westlake is primarily a community of residences and corporate offices but is also home to a few choice restaurants, including La Scala Pizzeria which offers piping-hot NY-style pizza and standard Italian fare, and Hollywood Burger, where one can enjoy full-flavored burgers with fresh ingredients. Fossil Creek Liquor hosts weekly wine tastings for the over-21 crowd, with specialty and vintage wines, cognac, and liquor. Grocery stores and pharmacies, including Tom Thumb and Walgreens, are less than 10 minutes away in Trophy Club. Additional options for shopping, dining, and nighttime entertainment are available in nearby Roanoke, Trophy Club and Southlake.
Parks and Recreation
A lush environment of brooks, trees, and open fields, Westlake real estate includes plenty of space for enjoying the outdoors. The 13.5-acre Glenwyck Park features three rustic bridges spanning across a babbling brook, a paved walking path, and 60-foot-tall shade trees. The Vaquero Club features an 18-hole, par-71 golf course designed by famed architect Tom Fazio. Members of the club also have access to a fitness center, day spa, kids club, fully stocked fishing lake, tennis center, and pool. Personal training and group exercise classes, including Pilates, yoga, and boot camps, are also available. Additional opportunities for outdoor fun are available 16 miles away at Lake Grapevine.
Living
A tiny community just over 980 residents, Westlake has been named the most affluent neighborhood in the country by Forbes magazine. In addition to streets filled with large ranch-style homes and major corporate offices, Westlake real estate includes luxurious gated communities. Approximately 150 multi-million-dollar estates, complete with guesthouses, media rooms, and games rooms fill the 525-acre Vaquero community. Glenwyck Farms, another gated community, contains fewer than 100 homes. Built on wooded, one-acre lots, Glenwyck Farms is most known for its park-like setting. New developments include the European-style Entrada, Grenada, and Quail Hollow neighborhoods. Median Westlake home price in 2017 was $2,083,000.
Schools, Health, and Transportation
The Westlake Academy is an award-winning, open-enrollment charter school that serves children from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Regularly awarded “exemplary” status by the State of Texas, the school is owned and operated by the town itself, and most of the community’s children go to school there. Children of Westlake also can choose to attend the regular public schools. Carroll ISD serves the eastern portion of the town, while Keller ISD serves the western portion.
Located along Highway 114, Westlake offers convenient access to both Dallas and Fort Worth, where residents have access to high-quality physicians, medical centers, and hospitals, including the UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Children’s Medical Center Dallas. The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is only 15 minutes away.
