The second micronaut album, this release begins the "moons of Jupiter" cycle, the four full-length albums named after the Galilean moons. The s/t first album was really just a collection of jams and experiments, but Io was written with intent, and live performance in mind, and is far more cohesive. It is more trip-hop and big beat (the flavors of its day) than the later IDM and abstract techno releases.
