Here are some MS Excel tools and functions essential for beginners and experienced users.

Microsoft Excel for Mac tools

  1. Data validation: This tool allows you to enforce data accuracy and consistency by limiting inputs to predefined criteria to prevent errors, especially when multiple users enter data into the same spreadsheet.
  2. Pivot tables and pivot charts: These are powerful tools that you can use to summarize and analyze massive datasets. They let you create dynamic summaries, apply filters, and rearrange data to gain insights from different points of view. Both tools work hand-in-hand to provide a visual representation of the summarized data.
  3. Flash fill: This tool automatically fills in values based on patterns it detects in your data. The tool looks at the surrounding data and then fills in a range based on what it finds. It is helpful in quickly formatting texts, dates, or numbers without using formulas.
  4. Conditional formatting: This tool allows you to automatically format cells based on a specific criterion. Using this tool, you can highlight outliers and important data points, making spotting key insights in your data easier.
