about

Having been making music together in various forms for around 20 years, James and Misha have finally recorded their long-awaited trumpet-and-bass duo project. Both starting out as classical musicians and gradually finding their way to jazz, the music on this album reflects the vast variety of different genres they each come across as part of their wholesome and colourful musical lives. The album features two original compositions and their collaborative arrangements of some traditional jazz standards, a Brazilian bossa nova and a Beatles song. Playful improvisation is a key feature of this intimate collection of music, recorded in London where both are playing jazz every day with some of the UK’s finest musicians.

"We would like to thank Misha’s parents Vika and Matthew for letting us record in their beautiful home, Alex Killpartrick for passing on his mix knowledge, Caspar for mastering the album and helping get it pressed onto vinyl, Ollie Hayward for many hours of fine artwork design, Grace and Bridget for all the love and support, Grace also for hand-drawing some of the text, Tom Walsh for lending us some microphones and offering some well-needed encouragement, Yusuf for being our audience for the latter stages of the recording and for generally being essential to our lives, all of our families for their support and encouragement over many years, and Ray Stavrou (James’ grandad) for passing on his love of good music and vinyl records."
