Ordinarily, my view is to leave the superstitious to their superstitions. There's not usually much you can do about them, anyway. And one has to admit that the ruckus in Afghanistan was do to the US being there trying to tell them how to live. But I don't think that we should tolerate their taking it on themselves to tell us how we can express ourselves about their superstition, as in the "Satanic Verses" case or the case of the Danish cartoons. So, burn-ins or piss-ons throughout the Western world would not be out of order.

Hmm true.Afghanistan is unmanageable, even the Russians with their tanks got nowhere. Any of these rouge counties that end in 'Stan' should be avoided like a wasp on a hot summers day. The US should just take away the planes,trains and cars there so they can't get out these places.

My aim is not to abolish the Quran, nor to try to change the way Muslims choose to live. But it is to keep Muslims from thinking that they have the slightest right or authority to change the way that I want to live. If I want to write a novel in which the prostitutes in a brothel take the names of the wives of Muhammad, that's up to me. If I want to draw unflattering cartoons of Muhammad, that's up to me. If I want to burn a Quran, that's up to me. You don't have to like it, but you have to live with it. Just as I don't like that you mutilate your women's genitals and force them to wear gunny sacks, or prohibit religious freedom and freedom of speech, but I have to live with it. As long as you mind your own GD business, we'll bet along fine.

They'd assume that because these people didn't speak their language that they were non-Christians. Massacres would ensue.

Off the top of my head, here's a list of Muslim countries that were conquered by European countries: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, and the Central Asian states. There are millions of Muslims from all over the world who come to Europe and North America because they can't make a living in their own countries.
