Pornhub is a Canadian company headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus and its owners are legally registered in Luxembourg. Ostensibly this is all probably for tax-evasion purposes, but it did nothing to cushion the blow of a hit piece from the U.S. media apparatus. The ten million videos they just deleted are no longer accessible in any of the 200+ nations that Pornhub services.
Russia and other eastern European nations might be a little more resilient to western media, but make no mistake, puritanical chauvinism is not a phenomenon unique to the United States. It doesn't matter what country you're from, there is a politician or business executive living right down the street from you that would shut down websites like this one in a heartbeat if it could score them brownie points with the public.
Sites like Motherless aren't just up against just the New York Times or the United States. I was using that as an example. Cowardice in the face of contrived social media is a global problem, and you can't run from it forever. It requires companies to take a stand against it.
