That Exif data is a record of events, dates, time, camera setting, that is usually embedded into an image from a digital camera.

Anyone can get that info from a pic, if you upload a pic on Flickr, you can look it up right there after the upload, everyone can see dates, times, ISO, shutter speed, f stop, all that stuff. Now that data even includes camera model numbers and what kind of lens is attached to the camera, all without you knowing. Programs that give that data are easy to find. I believe even photoshop can lookup the embedded data now.

Date could be wrong if the owner never set the fucking date in the first place. Do you remember how many people had flashing time/date numbers on their VCR's? People don't know how and don't care to set the date/time crap so your supposition is leaky at best.
