@Titania Most people are frightened of electric shocks. The fear and anticipation of the pain, along with the degrading restraint position, is all part of the torture. @Titania It was used routinely in Brazil. For example Karen Keilt has written about how they worked on her like this there. Like all effective torture methods it spread. The perch and electro have been used separately or together in lots of places. In South America electro torture was common, but in Chile the prisoner was usually restrained on the parrilla not the perch. In other places the victims are tied in other ways, or suspended by wrists or ankles, and shocked.
