Bangladesh Liberation War

With each passing day in March of 1971, Bengali disobedience grew and the people of East Pakistan eventually erupted. The spirit also touched the Bangalee expatriates living far away. London was one such place where the Bangalees took to the streets for an independent Bangladesh.

"HAPPY VICTORY DAY OF BANGLADESH- 16th December" National Martyrs’ Memorial is the national monument of Bangladesh, set up in the memory of those who died in the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, which brought independence and separated Bangladesh from Pakistan. The monument is located in Savar, about 35 km north-west of the capital, Dhaka. It was designed by Syed Mainul Hossain.

December 14 is Martyred Intellectuals Day in Bangladesh. This day commemorates the hundreds of Bangladeshi intellectuals who were killed by the Pakistani military during the Bangladesh Liberation War.
