Bernice Bing (Born 4,10,1936 -- 8,18, 1998)– Born in San Francisco Chinatown, California. She was a Chinese-American artist involved with the San Francisco Bay Area art scene in the 1960s. She used calligraphy-inspired abstraction in her painting which she adopted after studying with artist Saburo Hasegara.
