Julia has been painting botanical watercolours since 1998 when she joined an adult education class in South London. Hooked from day one, she loves to depict the beauty and detail of nature and is particularly drawn to specimens that are less than perfect such as autumn leaves, seed heads and fading flowers. Botanical artist Rosie Sanders takes inspiration from roses in nature, as can be seen by her beautiful paintings. 

The first rose here is 'Enigma’ Rosa Mortimer Sackler (=‘Ausorts’) 'The inner petals have become curled and irregular, weaving around like a sea urchin, and yet the outline is still unmistakably a rose.
