King David Kalakaua was a world traveler, which resulted in bringing electric power to the islands during a very early period. He also brought classical styled architecture to the islands as well. Hawaiian monarchial architecture was heavily influenced by European palaces and parliament buildings as evidenced by the corinthian column capitals of ‘Iolani Palace.
