Claws on all the digits except the big toe aid them in scampering along branches, where they primarily eat insects in addition to fruit, tree sap, and other small animals.

The colugo is a better glider than it is climber. These flying lemurs have a long membrane of skin which stretches from their rear-most finger to the toes, from their legs to the tail, and from the shoulders to their forearms. This adaption allows them to glide between trees with ease. In fact, of all the gliding mammals, they are the most capable and can reach distances of up to 70 m (230 ft.) without losing much height.
