The mighty Jade Dragon Snow Mountain dominates the landscape, watching over Lijiang Old Town and Lion Hill, from which Amandayan makes its home. It also serves as the setting for Impression Lijiang, a spectacular show created by Zhang Yimou, director of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In the open air of this vast outdoor theatre, the local Naki community perform mesmerising dances and songs from their local folklore.

Hop on the exclusive Bus 101 in Lijiang for just 15¥ (2 USD), taking you from Lijiang Old Town to the Tourist Centre! Departing every 20 minutes from Zhongyi Market Station (忠义市场站) between 7am and 5pm*, the scenic ride along Minzhu Road (民主路) lasts about 1 – 1.5 hours. If it's full, you might miss out, so plan accordingly. If you do, pin che (shared taxi) rides back to Old Town are just 25¥ (3.5 USD) per person. Enjoy your adventure!
