Danica Harris, Ph.D., SEP on Instagram: "Creating internal safety is key for healing, which is why befriending yourself, softening to your experience, and honoring your capacity are all a necessary part of healing and recovery work. We can’t hate ourselves whole, and following trauma, we need to be intentional about lovingly putting all of our fragmented parts back together. And if our sense of safety and risk are filtered through the lens of our trauma responses, it makes sense that making moves in service of our healing would feel challenging. We might find that doing what we know, even if it mirrors our traumatic past, feels better and safer to us and our bodies.

This is why we need to take small, measured risks. This is why we need to soften in places we’ve historically been hard. This is why we strive for 1% better and progress over perfection. This is why a little at a time is key. This is why heal Seeking Safety, Progress Over Perfection, High Risk, Nervous System, Our Body, Make Sense, Feel Better, Try On, No Response
