Synopsis

Cheongwoo Jin has led a lonely existence of promiscuity, violence, and drugs. Dabbling in both legal and criminal activities, he has created a name for himself and an extravagant lifestyle he can enjoy. His newest venture is to buy the construction rights for an expensive plot of land, where his boss plans to build an art museum. By chance, this simple job leads him to encounter Matthew Raynor—a young sculpture student who is expressionless and mysterious yet completely enchanted by Jin.

Desperate to keep Jin in his life and unintimidated by his threatening attitude, Matthew asks him to model for his sculpturing project. Despite it being an outrageous request, Jin accepts the offer in exchange for sex, agreeing to regularly meet in Matthew's studio. As enemy organizations compete for the same lot as Jin, his sketchy past begins to catch up to him, and he wonders if he is truly going insane by deciding to risk everything to protect one innocent student.

It's an intriguing and well-developed story, all the characters have motivation and internal conflicts, as well as their own values, what will shape their reactions and decisions. The events connect almost like poetry. It is possible to see the effort and affection of the author through the care with the work. It's really worth reading if you're into something more mature and a gangster atmosphere. The drama is well constructed to make sense and bring information about the past, nothing is mentioned that is not part of the narrative development. It may be a little slow at first to unwind, but it makes sense later. It's not a short story, it has a lot of depth and complexity that needed the time it had to develop. In addition to being well written, for the genre, it brought a situation of abuse treating it with respect. Not as a nice thing, not as romantic, but a complicated and sad subject, and it was well portrayed in this work. its not an overstatement to say its overrated, it has nothing new to offer, the involvement of mafia definingly makes it interesting but that's pretty much it, there was no thrill nothing.... during the last few chapters it did pick something up altho it still wasn't all that great.
