Preliminary (240/? chp)
What was meant to be a random read became meaningful. The story is a simple as it gets, real life meet up between gamers. Development wise it's slow and steady, yet the romance does build up. Over a span of 200+ chapters, you witness character development with real changes. Where simple kindness, consideration, care, evolves into love from gradual feelings.

The most valuable aspect of this series, relies on the realistic setting. There are no hyper bole traits or events, and the characters are about as regular as anyone else. All you get is normal interactions which adds to the fine lining of the series. Even ...

i read dai dark because i looooveeeee dorohedoro so much! if you do like dorohedoro, you might like this one as well. but if you’re hoping it’s going to be a lot like dorohedoro... maybe don’t expect too much like i did :p

q hayashida’s art is still gorgeous as ever! the character designs, background art, and everything about her art style are so good!!! gritty, macabre, and surreal with a side of silliness… the way it’s always been. i really love how much more grotesque and creepy the creatures here — they’re like actual horror beings! plus the story takes place in space too! how ...
Ajin (Manga) add (All reviews)

Ajin is incredibly cool. It looks good, is fast paced. There is a gradual progression of stakes and tension. Its story is well written and thought out. However, Ajin is also incredibly generic.

There are no novel ideas, messages here. No well written characters really. Everyone is black and white, their arcs are linear, if they have any. I suppose Tosuke's character's the only one that has anything going on.

The story waves around some lofty thoughts about morality, society but none of these ideas are actually developed enough to say anything. The story doesn't really take a firm stance in any meaningful way. In the end ...

This one is a snoozefest. Predictable from the first chapter and only gets more generic. There are so many interesting things they could have done with the story and yet "find the drug dealers" is the best they can come up with. Instead of a compelling saga it feels more like a collection of cheesy side missions. The characters are far too simplistic and dull to really get invested in. I would describe it as purposely "safe" like it was thought up during a boardroom meeting. A few jokes. Light drama. Forgettable action with zero buildup. That's what you are getting with this series.

The premise really caught my attention, but after the five-year time jump, the plot started to rush.
Since birth, the FL had been segregated in the palace of the empress/deceased mother because of a prophecy that accused her of having to “absorb” her half-sister, born on the same day but from a different mother.
Based on this prophecy, her father and older brothers never paid any attention to her for 10 years, except for a few chance encounters with no real significance, but after ignoring her for all this time, they immediately start taking an interest in her.
The FL meets the ML by chance while reading a ...

"The 6th Loop: I'm Finally Free of Auto Mode in this Otome Game" is another entry in the (shockingly large) cluster of OI stories that fundamentally do not understand the story they are ACTUALLY telling. The description leaves the reader with some amount of expectations about how the story is set to go, and those expectations are absolutely not met. The story is at least well-written... until you stop and think about any part of it for longer than 10 seconds, at which point it all falls apart. Characters internal monologues will have a character come to a resolution about themselves that ...

Disappointing series. Everything is so nonsensical it makes it a chore to read. You know the MC is going to say or do something stupid in every scene, and all the characters are forced to accept it because he's the MC. Why they gave the MC the personality of a bratty kid I have no idea. They want us to believe this is a brutal blood and guts world where anyone can die at any moment and yet we have cute magical squirrels saving the day like a Disney film. Everything else is standard for the genre and doesn't leave much of an impression.

Simply a cute collection of the extra Death Note material released over the series' initial run. It helps that the cover's illustration looks nice as well. Overall, It was an enjoyable read.

The stand out for most is going to be the a-Kira one shot. I've reread it at least 3 times at this point (once when it initially released), it's been good every time. An honorable mention to the Taro Kagami short story as well; it's the most lighthearted of the bunch (by Death Note standards), and a fun show of a Death Note user less "wise" than Light was.

Best manga ever: if you're ...

I really don’t know how this isn’t more famous , it’s so underrated. The story isn’t complex; it’s mainly for people who enjoy pure romance and light-hearted vibes. The female lead is truly unique: she’s goofy, yet she knows when to be serious, and her positivity is amazing.
The art is great and fits the tone of the story perfectly, and the plot matches its simple but well-written premise. Each character stands out, unlike the usual one-note otome personalities.
The female lead is goofy, strong, smart, and a little silly when she’s in love , one of the few recent FLs I genuinely like. The only downside ...

I didn't have high expectations for the manga, but it surprised me.

It's very well written; the character development and the layers behind the story are even better than in the anime.

The illustration is also very good, completely uncensored, which brings more life to the story; the details, each panel, and the body shapes are perfect.

In fact, it's almost identical to the anime, but it shows many layers that we don't see in the anime, things that weren't explained. I really liked it; the last chapter is extremely vivid, we can almost feel the overwhelming will of the protagonists, it closes the arc perfectly.

I highly recommend ...

Seven genius high schoolers get isekai'd into a new world. A brutalist world and to pay back the kind people who saved them. They have to institute reforms and that spirals up and up.

I liked the story. I think the manga does a good job with such a massive main cast. That said of the seven prodigies I'd say over half are utilized but not all. We have a soldier, a doctor, a magician, an inventor, a merchant, a politician, and a ninja. Alone any one of them would be interesting. Parallel World Pharmacy, Dr. Stone, they all do the same thing but focus ...

It’s a purely amateur work, with very little originality, everything has already been done a hundred times.

It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. Some people should stop overrating things on MAL, everything is completely unbalanced, and it always comes from the same type of people, on the same type of works, which are always far from actually being good.

I normally never write reviews, but I’m tired of seeing non-Japanese works on this site, and on top of that they’re completely overrated.

The story isn’t original, it’s a patchwork of overused inspirations taken from everywhere.
The art is acceptable, going from decent panels to extremely amateur ones.

This is one of those manga that only find its footing about 20-30 chapters in, and gets a lot better the longer it runs. In case you are not convinced by the starting stories, I would implore you to keep on reading, it truly gets more interesting later.

As a premise, which is detailed in the first chapter, none of the inhabitants of this world can truly die, which allows for quite some creativity in terms of storytelling, which gets expanded a lot later on (I would say starting chapter 50). It is definitely very gory and brutal, all people in this world are basically sinners, ...

I went in expecting nothing, specially from the format and the plot, a 28yo NTR woman with a 18yo delinquent who literally start having a relationship by having casual sex... In my mind i was like "nah, this wont be good" and i have never been so wrong, because what I found was one of the most wholesome and nice slice of life yuri stories i've read, seriously i was shocked.

I don't usually bother with reviews—honestly, it's a pain—but after scribbling down my mixed thoughts on Chainsaw Man, I felt compelled to shout out Dorohedoro. These two share a similar media vibe: I jumped into both early on thanks to recommendations, back when they were still building buzz. But where Chainsaw Man left me baffled by the hype, Dorohedoro hit me like a revelation. This is straight-up genius literary fantasy manga.

What sets it apart is how it's *literarily* insane. On the surface, it's pure chaos—crocodile-headed amnesiacs, mushroom magic, interdimensional weirdness—but underneath, everything operates by these intricate, consistent rules. As a reader, you have to engage ...

I jumped on Chainsaw Man literally from chapter 1 when it was still a weekly Shonen Jump rookie. Everyone around me kept saying “bro, this is the next big thing, trust me,” so I stuck with it. For the first 30-40 chapters it was… fine? Like, solid 6-7/10 weekly read: the action was raw, the art was gritty and unique, the premise was batshit insane in a fun way. I didn’t particularly love Denji, I thought most side characters were one-note, the “horny teenage boy + trauma” humor got old fast, and the themes felt try-hard edgy half the time, but it was entertaining enough ...

Stunningly beautiful fairy tale about shadow monster living with a little girl. I hear comparisons to The Ancient Magus's Bride in terms of the concept, but from what I've seen of that any similarities are mostly surface level, so don't go into this expecting anything like that. Has one of the best art styles I've seen in a manga - very strong use of negative space and nails the story book vibe perfectly, giving the whole thing a darker atmosphere, but I'd hesitate to call this a dark fantasy, since the actual themes and subject matter tends to be a bit more on the wholesome ...

What a GEM of a yaoi omfg, once you start reading it you simply cannot get enough!!!
It’s so peak, you HAVE TO give it a try!!!

The art is godly and jaw droppingly beautiful (honestly it’s def up in the top 5 most beautiful art styles I’ve ever seen in manhwa) and what especially caught my eye is how AMAZING the artist draws explicit scenes, the intimacy and lust that can physically be felt by the way the main characters look at each other, as well as their body language and facial expressions is out of this world!

I've read and seen quite a few Shoujo Ai works, some of which became some of my favorite manga ever, and this light novel will probably end up as one of my favorite works aswell. Even though it may start off as strange, and some people may be filtered by the "kinky" atmosphere which sets off the narration, i can guarantee there's much more that meets the eye.

Shuukura is the story of two classmates, Sendai and Miyagi, whom apparently have absolutely nothing in common, that thanks to a totally random encounter outside of school enviroment, end up seeing each other on a weekly basis ...

To me, this story resembles the bitterness of loving someone so much that you come to hate them - and hating them so much just because you actually love them. Love is not always sugary sweet or gentle. It can be so self-serving and brutal. But peeling off all those tangy layers and voila! A tinge of tenderness emerges.

It's also a story about broken dreams and the cynical reality of working adults. I cannot help myself but tune in with Yesol when he was cussing the hell out of his bogged down life. Although I have somewhat made peace with unpleasant (but objectively bearable) experiences ...

Noisy Citrine: In which we learn why Kirika is so devoted to Oriko (a simple crush). I like Kirika, but I don't think she works as a lead character.
Symmetry Diamond: In which a crazy girl attacks Mitakihara. Maybe the problem isn't that Kirika doesn't work as a lead character, but that the characterization here just isn't very good. This new character is full of herself and makes crazy faces and that's about it. She uses witch familiars. Because of this, our magical girl cast can go all out because of the constant grief seeds, right? Cool! But this is a sort of prequel where ...

The manga starts off with him getting kicked out of his family because his 7 sisters and his mom thought he was talentless in a talented household, but in reality, he actually has so many op powers(Good at fighting, makeup, filming, manager, etc). The manga trope reminds me of those 3rd rate fantasy manga where the MC gets kicked out of the party, which is too cliché, which is also its main problem. Outside of that, the art is pretty good. Although I wished it showed more of the family's downfall, it focuses on the MC and has only shown how one of his sisters ...

Kaju no 8 is a neat Sci Fi Shonen in a Sci Fi draught. It does every Shonen element solidly: world building, power systems, mentors. However it's not particularly excellent at anything. You've probably seen a lot of it's elements done before, but it executes all of them neatly. If you love Sci Fi art Kaiju is really cool, theirs lots of weapon designs I love, like Gen's gun lance. I find it refreshing seeing so many Sci Fi weapons in the current Shonen Era.

Akama ga Kill is the benchmark of a good Shonen. It does every Shonen element well enough to find enjoyment: cool power system, solid themes, villain group, power ups, ect. I enjoyed the power system, I forgot the name for them, but all the characters have these relics/weapons that do different things, like one has a sniper that gets stronger the more danger she's in. Although, their isn't much I can say is absolutely amazing, I like Akama because it does everything a good Shonen needs to do well and I think any Shonen fan can find somethings to like about Akama ga Kill. ...

Preliminary (100/162 chp)
I'll start off by saying I'm not huge on comedy focused manga, but Mashle was amazing. It sometimes masks it's world building and themes of oppression and discrimination through the comedy, so it's rare to get hit with huge exposition blocks as you subtly understand it's messaging. Mashle, having no magic, is clearly differently abled and his goal to become a divine visionary so he can earn his right to exist peacefully with his father is interesting. Although I haven't researched the author, I speculate the undertones of ableism might have been deliberate, if not just general discrimination.

The traditional Shonen elements are also neat ...

jujika no rokunin is living proof that a manga can grotesquely try to look “dark” and still end up reading like a parody written by someone who discovered the concept of trauma thanks to some random Twitter thread. The series thinks shock = quality, and it repeats this so often that it stops being disturbing and becomes unintentionally funny.

the inevitable comparison with pumpkin night
when I saw so many people comparing jujika with pumpkin night, I thought I'd find the same level of self-aware insanity. but no. pumpkin night knows exactly what it is: exaggerated, gory, absurd, chaotic—and fully embraces it. jujika, meanwhile, thinks it’s writing ...

Winter Woods is a romantic interpretation of Frankenstein’s monster, and at times it reminded me of Edward Scissorhands with its melancholic fairy-tale atmosphere.

What I enjoyed most about this manhwa is the art and overall aesthetic. The main couple is genuinely cute together, and several scenes and certain character motivations are emotionally gripping. I found myself really rooting for the characters. The flashbacks, in particular, were captivating and added more depth to the characters. There are also flashback segments illustrated in a more abstract, storybook-like style, which I found especially charming.

This is a difficult series to review because at some point the artist changes and the drop in quality is shocking. It went from a completely realistic art style, to what I can only describe as a children's coloring book. Zero detail. Solid color backgrounds. Character bodies are now gigantic but for some reason have tiny heads. How are we supposed to take anything in this seriously? It's baffling to me why they wouldn't just put the series on hiatus instead of running it into the ground. I will still recommend this at least for the beginning chapters, but after the artist switch I imagine ...

How much you value this set of doujinshis really depends on how much you like What Did You Eat Yesterday, and how much you really want to see Shiro and Kenji getting it on.

Personally, I am a bit ambivalent. The smut themselves are okay; Yoshinaga Fumi aren't exactly the most dynamic and the lewdest mangaka, but they are still drawn with heart and care. But my problem is more because Kenji and Shiro here falls into a typical seme-uke dynamic. Their everyday life in the main comic can also be seen that way, but there Shiro is less... blushing maiden.

In the end I only ...

I really wanted to like this, especially as the concept and ideas presented are really interesting, and the pieces of worldbuilding we get as the series goes on really does a lot to bring you into the world they've created. It's a compelling and intriguing world full of questions, and we only really get to see some of the answers to those questions.

But the biggest problem with the series, and that which ultimately destroys it in my eyes, is that's it's too short. Each story is too short, each book is too short, the series as a whole is too short. It blasts through the ...

It's a very steady slice of life isekai story.

Now mind you, if you're looking for action scenes and power scaling and whatnot, you'll probably end up disappointed. In the few action scenes that exist, this manga leans way more towards the OP kind of power fantasy. Conflicts and battles are done in a flash the moment Cayna drops in.

But as a story, as a slice of life, it's pretty dang good. I like that the manga tries not only to give some spotlight to the side characters, but also to give them some story importance. This is more than what I can say for a ...

I would recommend this book, but I think you'll know if you can reach the good parts by the first few pages/chapters.

The writing style is indeed very unique - it's mostly told through a pattern of interviews and memories. That said, it's a pretty slow start. At first, I thought the interviews were just a gimmick and that it would make me bounce off from the book as a whole. But the way they were written and the characters themselves kept me just invested enough to continue. Each interview left me wanting to know more about each character, and it delivered by presenting me with ...

The first and second volume have VASTLY different tone.

The first volume is your typical Omegaverse romance--it even starts with your usual noncon--and all things considered, it's very typical of most BLs. The seme is gruff and possessive, the uke is horny but shy.

But the second volume takes a HARD turn into domestic fluff. I don't mind that at all--the turn DOES improve the story and fleshes out the characters more, but even I find the evolution a bit jarring.

Still, all things aside, it's a good story. The art is clean, the smut is lewd, the fluff is sweet and soft. I really enjoyed ...

Well, it is really short and artstyle is really really good, it looks like some old romance something like Fruits Basket, but everything else is pretty mid. So I feel like it was extremely rushed, the deathgame itself was questionable because it was not even a game, either you kill the culprit or die one by one and literally nothing happened. The main antagonist is revealed literally in the first chapter, his motivation is bad, characters literally didn't deserve to die and last plot twist about the culprit was extremely underwhelmiing I am not gonna spoil but I literally didn't care. You already know you're a pathetic hopeless loser stuck in a never ending loop of suffering and torment with no escape. Everything you touch turns to shit and you're not smart enough to fix it, but this story does a great job showing you that Punpun somehow still has it worse.

Centuria is worth considering. It's not a masterpiece, but it is unique and raw, which I find compelling. A good comparison is Helck: both have questionable drawing technic, an okay story, and poor pacing, yet are written with genuine passion.

At its core, Centuria is about "family." This is clear from the beginning when the main character is tasked with carrying a baby. The relationships he develops reflect this theme throughout. I've always disliked the shonen trope of the "rival second main who hates the MC," which is refreshingly absent here. Instead, the main cast bonds together with genuine affection, and the baby/child is central to ...

In a word, "Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte!" is Cute. The manga takes the loosest, most basic outline of a villainess story and fills it in with its own unique colors, and it's *great*. 'Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte' is delightfully good fun that doesn't take itself super seriously, which is good because it's an OtomeIsekai story without any actual Isekai, so too much seriousness would have been to its detriment. The premise is a unique and fun twist on a very saturated genre, and it is absolutely worth a read.

Comedy and Isekai. If you're looking for something unique but not terribly deep, this series is for you. It's an easy read for someone who isn't afraid to have fun.

I say the series is unique, but it uses tropes constantly. So how is it unique? The main character is aware that he is in another world, but he doesn't want to stand out. So he himself uses tropes that he is aware of to appear as generic of a character as possible, all for the purpose of supporting what "should be" the main character of the arc from the shadows. Ever since I was young, romantic novels and stories have always resonated with me: whenever I encountered romance in any medium, it produced a particular feeling in me, a hard-to-explain intangible. Nowadays, few novels achieve that mix of emotions; I believe it's because few works dare to delve into their characters at their most intimate level and in relation to other, equally deeply written individuals. Few stories make a character feel relatable to my own situation; after all, most are made for a specific type of reader and not for the diversity of human experiences that exist around desire and sexuality. It’s a heartwarming, slice-of-life story about the bond between humans and their pets.

The setting of the story is urban fantasy similar to, but toned down version, of Pixar’s Onward. Domesticated griffins exist in this story’s universe (other than that, it is the usual irl korean capitalistic society).

This series has it's priorities wrong. Homura and the antagonist have the same goals, but opposite methods. This could be is worth exploring, but they only come into conflict right at the end. Instead, it revolves around a mysterious gambit to distract Kyuubey that ultimately adds to the chapter count and not much else. This might have worked better as a oneshot focusing on Oriko vs Homura. But then you'd miss out on Kyouko becoming an adoptive big sister, so maybe two separate oneshots.

Star Player Supporter feels like a pretty typical VR–game manhwa. The story is mostly predictable: the main character is already the best player, constantly discovering new things in places no one else bothers to explore. One of the strangest parts is how the game developers act as if they have nothing else to do but watch this single player all the time, which makes the world feel a bit unrealistic.

The characters are generally decent, and some of them are genuinely fun, but there are moments where they act in ways that make no sense at all. The protagonist especially has some over–the–top reactions. There’s even ...

Okay if i have to be honest, is a good story, the character designs are old fashioned mixed with modern style, i loved it, even tho it was kinda hard to follow at first, i think it started way too fast and rushing too much the progression it made me feel lost at times to the point i had to re-read entire chapters to focus and understand what was happening.

The story's fine. The regression trope's been done so many times, this likely won't be anything groundbreaking to anyone but the newest of readers, but the plot's perfectly serviceable.
The artstyle is a little unusual. I don't mind it, but I can see it not being to everyone's taste.

So why am I recommending it so highly? The fight choreography is AMAZING. I dunno what kinda juice the artist is on, but every single fight scene is a masterpiece of fluid motion that's both easy to follow and incredibly cool. There's also little downtime, with action happening just about every chapter.

The art might have been interesting few years ago, but nowadays, with so many works featuring incredible drawings (whether they have good stories is another matter), I don’t see why you would even give it a chance for the art.
