There is no grandiose overarching narrative for Otokojuku. Mainly manly moments. If you check out the author's other works Miyashita Akira you may find what you're looking for. His other stuff is a mix of low brow crass with comedy. Stuff like the Edajima prequel series might be more enjoyable. The sequel Akatsuki Otokojuku is more over the top than the first Otokojuku as it also includes clones, robots, & some really out there attacks. I also recommend Kinnikuman manga since that's a superhero comedy that becomes a battle shonen but it does retain its silly elements throughout most of the series.

The arc with the third years concludes by chapter 93. The other fights in this arc contain the same level of over the top techniques & brutalities. The finale helps solidify Momotaro & Daigouin Jaki's roles as leaders. What happens afterwards is another tournament but the scope of it is ridiculous. Essentially, Edajima gives a revelation involving WWII that leads to an assassination plot. So Otokojuku participates in the Challenge The Heavens Olympics & this is where the fights become more refined & sillier. For instance, one character fights with a unicycle. There's a lot of impractical weapons & devices that shouldn't work but they do because it's Otokojuku. That's what's left of the comedy. But what makes the Olympics completely absurd is the requirement of 16 team members. The whole tournament is extremely long due to this fact since there's multiple teams. It's not a single 16 vs 16 match. For example, the first fight is literally 1 Otokojuku student vs the entire opposing team of 16. Then the 2nd round has a few more matches with rotating members. Basically, if the Otokojuku student is strong enough they'll take on multiple opponents then switch out after they fought someone worthy. This arc is not in the anime but if it ever came back I would like for the anime to be about this. There are 2 arcs after that but they're very smaller by comparison. The final arc of the series is where it briefly reverts to the school shenanigans. The 1988 anime does extend the school stuff a little bit so there's that option if you want to experience it, again. Not sure if you've seen Cromartie High School or High School Kimengumi which both excel in the school setting comedy.
