Go where your dreams take you - Travel Journal

This travel journal is my last project for my blogpost for Kaisercraft this month. I created this journal to have something to work on, while I was going on a holiday. The journal is decorated on the front, and the pages are left with just the paper from the collection, ready to be decorated while I am on holiday.

I have used a Bind it all machine to create the binding of the album. The cover pages are created from card board.

I have added a few envelopes throughout the album, to give space to store the collectables for the collection, before I use them in the album.

The pages has been simply decorated with papers from the collection. The pages will be decorated further at a later stage.

Updates can be found in later blogposts, on the decoration of some of the pages of this journal.

Combining project life and mixed media - and meeting Becky Higgins

A few days ago, Connie challenged me to create a few Project life pages for Hobbykunst, before  Becky Higgins classes. I really do not do a lot of Project life, mostly because I enjoy more mixed media and 3D projects, and the pockets restricts this slightly.

These pockets are some of Becky Higgins own pockets, and has room for 4 - 15x15 cm inserts. This gave me the idea, to make a nontraditional Project life page - with mixed media and without the Project life cards.

I have used the paper "Stationer's Desk- Red Ink" from Prima and orange bazzill. The photo, is one I have taken in New York on 5th avenue.

I have used gesso, distress paint and ink from 13 arts. on the background paper. I have also used some of the new cork embellishments from Rayher, and I used these under the Prima tags.  The heart is a paper heart from Rayher. I have added a photo over it and sticky foam letters.

I have also tested out some of the new stickers from Hobbykunst on this page, and they work wonderful on mixed media projects to add more details.

So, I finished the layout last night, and went to Hobbykunst to deliver the Project life page, and then Becky Higgins suddenly appeared.....

Becky is going to have classes for Hobbykunst from Thursday to Saturday. All the Exclusive classes are fully booked, but there are still spaces in the Classroom courses.

A holiday layout

I was asked to be guest designer for Alt om Scrap this month. I was asked to make something for the theme "Travel". I made a layout with photos taken a year ago in Australia (Shell Beach at Shark Bay and  Kangeroo Island).

Papers are from Prima's new collection, Ava Princess and Lily Princess. I have used stencils, distress paint, gesso and distress ink to create the background effects. I have used shells, flowers and pieces of sponge (used for soap making), lacer cut wood boarder from Prima and Prima clay tiles.  The small round circles are are pieces from Rayher Ribbon. The clay key, is handmade.

I have also used gauze cloth under the flowers and photos. The birds in the top right corner are made by Gunn-Eirill

12 tags of Christmas 2013 - A maskuline tag - Tim Holtz style - tag number seven

This tag was number seven of a series of 12 tags in the December issue of the Norwegian magazine - "Ett trykk". I wanted to show different styles and techniques. This is an example of a maskuline tag - Tim Holtz style

The original tag is made is a dies from Tim Holtz Sizzix Die TAG & BOOKPLATES Movers And Shapers. The background has been made using Distress Paint – peeled paint, forest moss, broken china og salty ocean. I have stamped with im Holtz – Stampers Anonymous – Mini Blueprints #3 and Tim Holtz: Cling Rubber Stamp Set - Stuff 2 Say

The gear dies are from Sizzix: Movers & Shapers Magnetic Die By Tim – Gears cut in cork.

The photo is an old family photo

Crossing the ocean - a Mixed Media layout challenge

Once, i read the words: “ You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”.  I think this is quite describing, because to get further - one has to challenge oneself and try new things. Sometimes I have to challenge myself too, and try things I haven't done before. It's about a year since I started with Mixed Media, sprays and paint. I started with a class with Sherry Mendoza and Gry Anita Smith Murud. They both gave me lots of inspiration.

Last summer, I was given a task from Hobbykunst, to make a layout about myself, as a part of the Design Team. This was also published in the magazine - Ett trykk in October, and therefore could not be published online before.

I used a canvas and turned i backwards - so I could make a 3D effect inside the canvas

Australia is a country very close to my heart. The background photo is taken from inside a cave from The Rocks at Kangaroo Island, outside Adelaide in Australia. The sea meets the ice on the South Pole on the other side. To create the cave effect in the canvas, I used yes paste.  The photo of the Wallaby and the Koala is also taken on Kangaroo Island.

Mission possible - A pink paper helicopter

Kort O Mania has a new challenge. I made a different birthday treat for the challenge, a paper helicopter. A lot of things have been crafted out of paper. I was looking for something new, and a helicopter was something I had not seen before. I thought this would not be a "a mission impossible". The inspiration came from the pink papers and the Swedish song "Rosa Helikopter" (Pink Helicopter) by Peaches.

The helicopter was made from scratch. I have used acetate in the windows in front. The rotors rotate when you blow on them. The base has also been made from scratch.

For the helicopter, I have used white Bazzill and papers from Maja design - Sofiero - Exuberance of flowers in bloom and Vintage Summer Basics. The gras is from Basic Gray

The stamp is Craft Star from Kenny K. The stamp is coloured with promarkers.

All the flowers are handmade from Washi tape. They have also got some gesso on them for effect. The bling is from Panduro. The little button has the text "Believe in yourself"

The Butterflies are from are from Graphic 45.

The small jar was bought in Melbourne. The crone is from Hobbykunst and the charm of the hand is from KortHobby. The buttons are random mix of leftovers.

Template for my helicopter is published here: Template

The Shambles - A shaker card

This time, I have made a British shaker card. The background papers are from "Grandma`s School Book - 6 Tum - Blue Wings". The two ladies are part of a rubber stamp from Art Impression "Picture Perfect". They are coloured with promarkers.

I have used a photo stamp of The Shambles in York behind the window. The fence is a homemade cut file, made from a photo I took of a fence in Brighton. The lamp post is a homemade cut file made from a photo I took  in Sweden. The bike is also a homemade cutting file made from a photo of a bike.

The papers inside are from Prima - Botanical collection.

I have left space for a message on the back of the card.

Not all those who wander are lost..... and a freebie

Kort o Mania has a new challenge this fortnight. This time, I have decorated a notebook from Hobbykunst. The background is made by using different blue left over papers. The papers are torn into small pieces and glued directly onto the book with Mod Podge.  After this, a thin coat of Gesso were added. This is the first time I have really tried Mod Podge and Gesso together to make a background. The girl is a digital stamp from Saturated canary -  "Packlight". The girl has been coloured with promarkers. The book cover has had a final layer of Mod Podge to seal the pieces. I have also added a ribbon as a bookmark.

"Not all those who wander are lost" is written by J.R.R Tolkien  - and I could not find a stamp with these words on - so I made my own digital stamp. Please feel free to use it in your own projects. You may store it on your own Pc, but please don't sell them or post them on your own homepage or blog - link back to this blog instead.

Finally summer! Sailing boat with template

Her er malen

A scrappers colouring album

Stempelet bak er Mo Manning sitt, Bronte and Bella.
