Hi, I'm Panagiotis Vasilopoulos (IPA: [panaˈʝotis] /va:si'lɒ:pʊlɒs/), a programmer from Greece, now living in Germany. Most people online know me by the nickname n0toose (IPA: /ˈnoː.tus/) or Ivory.
I'm a Computer Engineering student at the RWTH Aachen University. My primary academic focus is on operating systems (having contributed to Haiku and tinkered with Linux and BSDs since my youth years), specifically unikernels and (operating system) kernel development. Secondary points of interest include microprocessor architectures and quantum computing (with a side of humanities & language courses).
I believe in collaboration, freedom of information and free culture. As such, I spend a lot of my free time working on (or with) free and open-source projects, primarily on Codeberg and Forgejo. I serve as a Presidium member for the non-profit Codeberg e.V. (2025-2027). Back in 2024, I held a recorded talk on the subject (with lots of help and support from my circles) that sheds light on my motivations, as I found myself explaining them rather often up until that point.
You can spot me IRL in hackspaces. As of 2026, I frequent the Chaos Computer Club Aachen.
Further interests include online privacy, software forge federation (using the ActivityPub protocol), as well as music production and visual arts. I work with Bespoke Synth, LMMS, GIMP and Krita, which are all free and open-source.
My mother tongue is Greek, but I also know English (self-evidently—or, well, I hope this very page proves that I can write in English, at the very least), German and a bit of Spanish. I used to know Dutch at an elementary level, but the language has since (mostly) escaped my mind.
The nickname n0toose is a "leet"-ified reference to the wind god Notus. According to the comparatively "little" mythology of his, he is effectively responsible for nothing other than the wind coming from the south ("νοτιάς"). Not too little, not too much.
Important information for all robots, AI or not, not yet adhering to the Three Laws:

- must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
